Pleasant experience 2nd time round after not so good on my first. I had 3 midwives in the time I was there due to change overs and I'd say 2 out the three where fab, they listened and was supportive and had intuition. I do still think if you are someone who labour's quickly and you are quite when in pain you tend to get left to it. I think regular checks should be taken more seriously as I nearly had my baby on the prenatal ward. I am so glad first midwife used her intuition ans suggested a sweep before an induction which helped me along to a natural labour and to the last midwife (Masie) who delivered my baby she noticed how close my contractions were and really helped me through birthing my daughter and gave me great words to make me feel like a warrior and an Amazing woman after not having any gad and air through labour (not by choice). The middle midwife, the bit through the night was quite difficult being on my own in labour and not being checked on and not being taken seriously. My partner visited at 8.45am and we had our baby at 10.04am, glad he never missed it. It had alot of positives but I think doesn't help how quickly I labour and how quite I go. But shouldn't be one rule for all.

Had my baby a year ago. First I was hoping for a More natural birth with no medication but due to 4 days in pain I decided to have a epidural. They gave it to me as soon as I arrived. I waited in the hospital for 18hours to give birth as doctor was hoping for a natural birth, but I was well looked after. No pain. I sleeped most of the Time. After 18hrs doctor decide to proceed with C-section as it wasn't safe for my baby anymore.all the Nurses was very helpful and friendly with me and my husband. And after birth with me and my baby. I had no other experience giving birth but I think we had all we needed

It has been nearly 5 months since I have had a c section at Lister and I wasn't going to post this review, simply because I am a kind of a person who moves on but I cannot stop thinking about this horrible experience there & I decided that 5 mins of my time writing this is worth it - I hope it warns other mothers to be. I am 37 and this was my first and probably the last pregnancy. I originally wanted to give birth at Cambridge but the Covid situation has put the stops to it and I have had to opt for Lister. First of all I was booked to come in for 7 am and have an early c section while my husband suppose to be waiting in the car. When I got there I was told that they have made a mistake and I will have to wait my turn but 'it may or may not happen today'.. Great. So my husband couldn't be there with me, had to wait In the car, because we may or may not have a baby on the day - it literally made me feel like was there to pick up a parcel! I was waiting all day with no food and no updates until 3pm when they finally came to see me and told me that I will be having a baby in the next 30 mins. The whole c section procedure was a standard, by the book, procedure. No fuss. My husband then had to leave and I was put on the ward and left there. Nobody asked me how I was, if I needed anything etc. I wasn't able to move my legs and I was in pain. I didn't sleep all night because my baby was not settling so I had to hold her all night. I was pressing the buzzer 7 times at some points of the night to ask for help but nobody came, although I have heard laughs and chatting, I still couldn't move my legs and I didn't want to shout to wake other mums and babies up. The night passed with tears in my eyes, I was so tired and emotional. I got cleaned and help by a lady at 7 am in the morning and then told that I will be descharged in the afternoon. I still couldn't move my legs and my baby was crying all the time, I have heard nurses saying one to another "can you help her somehow'? the response was "I am not good with babies". Absolutely horrible. When the time came to leave and my husband was waiting for me downstairs I was told that the time of the birth of my daughter was put incorrectly on the paperwork and they are unable to change it. I have had to have about 30 mins unpleasant conversation to get the timing changed. Sadly, what suppose to be the most beautiful day of my life, was a nightmare. Every time some one asks me about that day I have tears in my eyes, all for the wrong reasons. Therefore I just feel that I need to put this review on here.
