Rooms: Highly capacious with nice fixtures. Great bathroom, something I've come to appreciate over my years of travelling! Initially I'd planned on travelling with a friend and colleague, and so booked a twin room, but when they had to leave it for a very wise podcast-interview opportunity, the staff changed me to a king-sized bed immediately on arrival. Nearby activities: Very close to Piccadilly trainstation and several bus and tram stops. The bar and restaurant are very good in the hotel. Walkability: Easy walking distance of Piccadilly station and several trams and buses. A good taxi rank just outside, and for pedestrians flaneurs (forgive the poncey language but I love walking in cities) it's an easy stroll to the great shops around the station as well as lovely Picadilly gardens. I headed out on a nightly excursion on Friday to do some last minute shopping at the Arndale centre followed by dinner - all easily doable with accessible trams and easy street strolling. I never felt "stranded" from the hotel if you've ever had that feeling when on a trip - the hotel's great placement is a part of this. Food & drinks: Breakfast was top! I had a full english breakfast with a cheeky hash brown (not English but still nice), plus a bowl of muesli, OJ and a cappucino. Staff were very gracious and amusing as noted elsewhere, and there was a convivial spirit among the guests that you only find in lovely spots. Noteworthy details: I'd like to thank the staff for holding onto my luggage an hour longer than expected on the Saturday, after my intended train ride home was delayed, as well as fielding my questions whilst I was tired and disoriented. Very high respect level for this sort of care.
