Very friendly group. Senior students have a wide range of knowledge from various martial arts backgrounds. And the process they use allows you to learn very practical skills for self defence while constantly linking the movements to tried and tested techniques. Modern Applications based on Traditional Martial Arts.

My son is 5 years old. The karate lesson is engaging and he enjoys every class. Sensei Toni and his team deliver brilliant classes that help the children's focus, strength and discipline

My 9yo has been attending the classes since she was 4 and it is a great group activity where they also care about individual skills and progress. The instructors are great with the kids, and teach when it's the right time to focus and when to have a good giggle. As a parent I am welcome to stay for the class and observe but at times it's good to get to nip out to run some errands during this time, there are many instructors and other parents present at all times so it's fine.

Manchester Karate's online Quarantine lessons are a superb way of keeping my Karate and my fitness in good condition during lock-down. The live lessons are a good mix of working hard on your techniques, understanding your own body as you do so; entertaining and exhausting :-D On top of that there is plenty of helpful and diverse recorded material for inspiration and reference between the live lessons. I can highly recommend this to any martial arts practitioner to get you over the dojo-free time.

I started attending Missing link to improve my anxiety (which did help massively) by the first lesson I felt empowered and incredibly comfortable with what I was learning and the people around me. The teachers are incredibly nice and patient including Heero! The amount of patience this man had to deal with with me alone, doubting myself, not pushing myself hard enough, giving up and repeatedly saying 'I'm sh*t', he's very tolerant and wise in politely telling to shut up and that I'm better than what I think whilst doing 20 push ups, encouraging me to feel more positive and to keep going no matter how terrible I felt I was doing. Attending missing link improved my mental health as well as physical health and you're learning a very difficult skill as well as building friendships within the lessons. Throughout the months of me attending I have been going through injuries (not from missing link) redundancy and unemployment which can clash with my attendance and affording the lessons, however, once I told them about these issues and that I was still eager to attend they were very understanding and more than helpful with helping me with anything which, with most places they normally toss you aside but not missing link! In terms of cost I found missing link to be the cheapest in terms of karate practices especially it being local in the middle of Manchester. If you wanted to take self defence lessons, or even just do it for a day for fun I would definitely recommend and you wont regret it! :)

Have been attending the classes for the last 5 months, it's safe to say it's the best Martial Arts Dojo that I've been to so far. All instructors are friendly and welcoming, the techniques are explained thoroughly and without prejudice which makes the place very comfortable for beginners. The instructors bring in different set of techniques and styles to learn from, making each class worth attending. Unlike traditional karate, this martial arts community continuously improves the curriculum by exploring traditional (Karate's connection to its Chinese roots) and modern martial arts. Literally, each black belt goes through research work and presents it to the community to further improve the martial art. At Missing Link you get classes from Monday to Saturday which makes it flexible for anyone. There's also seminars organised every 6 months, sometimes in branches across Europe. I can't recommend it enough, just give it a try and see it for yourself! :)
