Moans about parking and toilets. people will complain about anything these days - adapt - there are lots of facilities of both in Malton. Go away and complain about something that is important.

We saw online that auctions took place every week on Tuesdays and Fridays, so we headed into town especially. The kids were excited to see sheep being unloaded for the afternoon auction, then we headed across to the cattle shed just before the 11am start. Some helpful locals and the auctioneer saw us looking around outside, and said the public were welcome to view from the ring. We took our seats and waited for it to start. You are on raised benches over looking the auction ring, just metres from the animals. For southerners used to endless wheat fields and little live stock, it's a very interesting local event. We stayed nearly an hour, chatted with the local farmers and learnt lots about the cattle.

Much of the time the site seem dormant but this is the nature of livestock markets. However during auction days this is a scene of excitement and showcases some of best sheep and cows in the area. Well organised with minimal stress to the animals. Long may it prosper.
