Ian is an incredibly talented luthier, and his way of gentle restoration definitely confirms with my views of keeping things original! He has done a beautiful job of sympathetically maintaining a vintage banjo I bought for my partner, even hand making a new hold down piece for the resonator. I'm so glad I took my instrument to him and I've recommended him to all the musical friends I have. Thanks again Ian!

I picked up my ‘62 Tele reissue from Ian today with quiet excitement and was not disappointed, In fact the opposite. The set up is excellent, it feels better than the day I bought it. Ian will be seeing more of my guitars and if anyone asks I’ll point them in his direction with absolute confidence.

Ian did excellent work repairing four guitars damaged by humidity/damp storage conditions. Talked through range of options for repairing each guitar; the work was high quality and reasonably priced. Really happy with the results and I'd recommend Ian's services.

I took my guitar to Ian to get cleaned up and repaired after neglecting it for a few years. He did a fantastic job and was great chatting with him on the other guitars that he’s worked on. Has a real passion for the work and I wouldn’t hesitate to go back in the future. Would highly recommend.

Excellent customer service and talk through of the process, Ian is very knowledgeable and clearly explained how to improve the sound of my guitar and what strings to use for my style of playing, and fixed a crack in the back with matching paint to finish. Would definitely recommend his workmanship.

I had to look for a new luthier recently as the guy who’s worked on my guitars for 20+ years is no longer able to take on repairs and setups and Ian at Malone Guitars came up several times in my research. After so many years with the same guy, it did feel a step into the unknown but Ian has some great reviews and on meeting him, I needn’t have worried. He is extremely knowledgeable on his subject and has worked on a huge range of different guitars, he is very friendly and approachable and happy to talk through options in a relaxed environment without being rushed. I left two six string acoustics with him, one a 40 year old dreadnought that I wanted setup for a specific tuning, along with some repair work on the finish on the back of the neck and the other, a high end, custom made, large bodied jumbo that needed a thorough setup, fret dress and, as it transpired, attention to some loose frets. When the guitars were returned to me they both played superbly and Ian took the time to talk me through in detail what he had done, also providing me my own copy of his extensive workshop notes for my records. The level of workmanship was excellent and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Malone Guitars to anyone. I’ll be going back soon with my strat.…and if you do go and see Ian, ask if you can try one of his own custom builds, they are fantastic !!

I have taken 2 guitars along now. Both early 80s fenders that had lost their way. I am sooo glad I took them as they came back feeling brand new. Re fret was superb, set up was excellent. Will be using again for other guitar's.
