If it was possible to put no stars I would. I purchased a boat and asked Magellan to do the survey. It has been an unmitigated disaster from the start, resulting in a new engine required, because she simply didnt pull out the dipstick to discover emulsified oil in the engine. She couldn't find the 240 power input and had to ask (its a massive plug on the side of the boat, you'd need to be blind not to see it) The waste disposal pump was broken, it was actually in bits and this wasn't picked up. The list is endless, I have now reported her to the YDSA for the negligent nature of her work. Do not use Magellan, I wouldn't trust them to survey a rubber dingy. I notice a lot of reviews since I posted mine, funny there was none before. I guess you can get friends to put anything on this, I would happily portray my experience to anyone looking to use them. But my advise still stands. - DON'T, there are plenty out there that actually know what they're doing.

A very thoughtful and thorough business. Nothing is too much trouble. Truly can’t understand a recent review I read this week. It didn’t make sense based on my positive experience

Magellan Yacht Surveys carried out an on-site out of the water survey of my Bavaria 36 prior to my purchasing it in 2017. The survey was done promptly and accurately and detailed problems with useful suggestions for remedies. Where items could not be surveyed or tested due to concealment or the need for specialist assessment this was made abundantly clear with suggestions for a further investigation regime. The survey provided has stood the test of time with no problems appearing since purchase.

Mandy has surveyed my yacht several times and I have always found her to offer a comprehensive report. She has an excellent professional manner about her and is always good at communicating. I would definitely recommend her.

We used Magellan Yacht Surveyors recently before buying our 34’ yacht. The report was very thorough and detailed, highlighting anything not visible and recommending that we access these things ourselves. Fortunately we took note of this advice and discovered one of the chain plates had rot in it! This advice therefore saved us the potential loss of the rigging and a lot of money. We would certainly recommend Magellan Yacht Surveyors and would use them again.
