I wanted to like this place so much. The sun waa out in the courtyard and the tables were well laid out with a good atmosphere. The menu sounded really appetising. Unfortunately when we ordered we were told there was no chicken so it limited us. We chose the beef tacos and squid tacos. For the price £9.50 each I thought the presentation and the portion size was a joke. The beef tacos were deep fried and the portion size of the squid was ridiculous. The gender neutral toilets were also in need of a deep clean with sticky doors and floors. Staff were lovely but wouldn't return.

So very disappointed after hearing great things about Madre. The staff seemed to have left their personalities at home. In fairness, they were probably exhausted after the Eurovision visitors, but smiles were a scarcity. From the sticky cramped tables to the ridiculously small, but pricey, margaritas Madre was a letdown. Points for using corn tortillas and having Carnitas, but the portion sizes and quality of the food didn’t warrant the extravagant prices. We had two fillet dinners with starters and drinks at Miller & Carter the next night for less than our bill at Madre. Sorry, it is no mas for me and Madre.
