We had a very pleasant stay here with our 2 kids and dog. Dog was made to feel very welcome, even to the extent of a bowl of Sausages for breakfast. Lovely grounds that he enjoyed running round. The kids loved the swimming pool, with dedicated kids swimming times. The breakfast was delicious and main reception and dining areas were very attractive.

My partner booked a stay and spa at Kilhey Court for us both for my birthday which was also our first night away after having our first child a few months prior. After checking in and arriving to our room, it appeared the room had not been cleaned for quite a while as there was a good layer of dust on the tables and items on them. We got ourselves ready and made our way to the spa for our massage. We had initially wanted a couples massage but on booking we were advised there was a staff shortage so that wouldn't be possible but they could facilitate us being in a joint room and being massaged one at a time which we were OK with. We were advised we can use the facilities while we wait so we made our way to the pool. It is only a very small pool but there was a young child splashing about and playing with large floats when we arrived which obviously isn't very relaxing or what you expect from a spa. We were advised to come back up to the reception area in time for our massage appointment and were provided with robes. Unfortunately the robes are very small fitting. That made waiting in the reception area in our swim wear with people coming and going slightly embarrassing. While waiting the therapist came down with her previous client, the previous client wasn't happy with the service she received and was making a complaint at reception when the therapist began arguing with her and completely dismissing the client. Very unprofessional and left us feeling very awkward. The complaint the customer was making was mainly that her massage was much shorter than it was booked for so we made note of the length of our massages too and they were around 5 minutes shorter than they were meant to be. However, given what we had witnessed happen when the previous client tried to explain her dissatisfaction we thought it best not to bother. When it came to our nights sleep, the walls were paper thin so when an alarm was going off in a neighbouring room at around 5:30 we thought the alarm was in our room. We could also hear their TV at night too. The bed was uncomfortable and we both woke up with back pain. We did head down for breakfast and the service from the staff in the breakfast room was fantastic, they were welcoming and couldnt do enough for us and the breakfast was good quality. On checking out we were waiting around 5 minutes for someone to tend to us as there was nobody about, when they did we advised we wanted to check out, we was asked which room and then told that was all done. We were never asked how our stay was. It says a lot that as new parents on a much needed break and our first night away we were headed home for 8am. Knowing sometimes things do go wrong, before jumping straight on to write a review, I contacted the hotel directly and after over a month and a couple of chaser emails I recieved a response in which we were offered a good will gesture of a preferential rate on another stay in order for them to resore our faith. I found that ridiculous. We regretted the money we had already spent, why would we want to spend more for them to put it right?
