A great little place. Super-fresh food; a wide range of fish and also wonderful vegetables done in creative ways. We really like the kale/caballero, and the minty peas. Very friendly too. Recommended.

Very expensive for what tastes like fish and chips you could make at home- wouldn’t recommend for takeaway but maybe nicer to sit in?

Not nearly as good as a proper chippy. The service was slow, the food was flavourless, and the price was hefty. It felt like something you could get from the frozen part of tesco and throw in the oven. They didn't season the food, and i don't know how you make beer batter taste bland but somehow they managed it. The best part was the minty crushed peas because at least they had some flavour. And by god, the chips... If I made them myself I'd be disappointed. They were so dry and hard I could feel them cutting my mouth as I ate them. Just a big old disappointment tbh, wouldn't bother.

Since the change of management the food is no longer the same, hence the restaurant is no longer the hidden gem people talk about. They have kept the decor and menu but this is only as a marketing ploy as they are piggy backing onto the success of the previous owner. The skill though has gone. The restaurant seems to have been taken over by a family…without much of a clue- a man struggling in the kitchen to fulfill orders.. overcooking chips (hard) and the previously lovely and crunchy tender stem broccoli (now almost mushy!). Two women (mother and daughter?) struggling at the till… food takes forever and then there is great confusion with takeaways what goes into what bag etc…by the time the food is sorted and delivered it is stone cold. I don’t know why the previous owner and founder of Lure sold this business but it is misleading that we think it is the same restaurant as it was just because the menu and the decor are the same. They should have kept the chef!

Not a ‘traditional‘ chippy i.e. options including sausage/pie etc but chips are good although more expensive than average

Frequently visited and had always enjoyed the excellent quality and service at Lure until recently. Ordered food for collection earlier and it was disappointingly not the same standard or quality. Has there been a change of management?
