Mike restored my leak valve amps. After 11 months they developed a small fault. Mike took them back, repaired them and extended the guarantee for another year. Really splendid service from a man who really understands valve amplifiers. I could not be more pleased with the quality of the workmanship and the aftercare.

I have seen quite a few reviews here where people have complained about long waits for repairs and I wanted to give some hope that patience may be rewarded. In October, 2019 I entrusted Mike Solomons with the servicing of my beloved Leak Troughline valve tuner which, even in its original state, was far more transparent than any modern radio I have heard. When I dropped it off, we had a long and enjoyable chat about vintage audio and I was impressed by Mike's knowledge and experience. He even has his own special modification for the Troughline, which improves the performance beyond its original spec without changing the circuit. However, by this year, after unanswered calls and emails, I had given up all hope of ever seeing it again. Imagine my surprise when I received an email out of the blue from Mike stating that my Troughline was ready for dispatch! The email also included a full account of repairs done and parts replaced. I can honestly say he has done a wonderful job of realigning the tuner as the sound is now clearer than ever with less noise and it can pull in far more stations in what is a very poor reception area.

I just called the gentleman to ask him to help me with my new turntable. I have been having problems with the anti skating. I wanted him to come and fix the problem ( was willing to pay him 100 quid that he was charging me) but I also used the term tutorial. I got a lecture from him on the phone. I have never experienced such a rude service in my life. As if he's doing me a favour. Good luck to him with future customers.

I have left two amplifiers to be repaired (pre pandemic) in good hope. Time went on and we heard nothing but I knew this wouldn’t be an over night repair so I held tight. Then the pandemic hits and I realised this would delay things further, not something I wasn’t too worried about as it effects all businesses. However, we have had great difficulty in getting any contact from Mike. He does not respond to our emails and doesn’t answer the phone. Now there is an answer machine message saying that we can’t have our equipment back. Some arrangement must be made for us to collect our equipment (who knows if it’s been repaired) as it is our property. It is totally wrong for anyone to refuse to give someone’s property back. I understand this is a difficult time for many, but this equipment holds significant sentimental value to my family. I am only writing here as we do not get a response to our emails and I am not sure what else to try to get in contact with Mike. You need to make arrangements for someone to help you get these items back to us if you are unable to. You have our emails, even a phone call from yourself to discuss this matter would be very helpful indeed. From Jane & Oliver Everitt.

I am interested to see that other reviewers have had bad experiences with this company. I gave up long ago expecting to see my equipment again but am writing to warn others who value their vintage equipment. I left a vintage Leak 2000 tuner amplifier for repair in 2016 after being taken in by a sales pitch that Mr Solomon’s had 40 years experience of dealing with this brand. He asked for a £100 deposit. After failing to get answers on the progress of repairs by telephone, I sent many emails. He eventually replied that he could not identify the problem, even though he had the original manual, and had to wait for another customer to bring in the same model so that he could compare them. Six months then passed without.any communication from him. He replied to my next email that he had been comparing it with other customers models but could not keep their equipment for a long time. Very thoughtful about them but less so about me. In December 2017 I asked for a progress report but got no answer, I then gave up wasting my time and good temper.

I asked for a repair, however Mike came back to me straight away via email and said that he was inundated with work but rather than just give me a standard response he was kind enough to recommend another engineer and forwarded me his details. I read some of the bad reviews and I think they are totally unfair.. The communication I had was extremely professional so rather than go on a disgruntled review I would try London Sound for yourself, I'm sure you will not be disappointed with the level of service you receive. Thanks again for your help Mike.

There are a couple of bizarre reviews here. Don't believe them. I made contact from France by email and was bowled over by the prompt and informed response I got. Mike walked me through several diagnostic steps to suss out my speaker problems, even the manufacturer didn't do that! After he determined the likely problem he said he was too busy to look after me at this time....charge for all this nil! How could I complain he even referred me to a colleague for assistance. If you can speak to Mike!
