Once again, disappointing. I made arrangements to come in 3 weeks ago. The day before I received an email that they wouldn't be open and that they could see me the next day. I was travelling from out of town with non-refundable tickets, so I couldn't go. The time before, I gave a 3 month lead time, checked in 4x including the week before, and when I got there was told they could only pull 3 of the 10 sources I requested, and that they couldn't pull more while I was there. Apparently they have a great collection. I wouldn't know.

I came to search for information on smallpox, Dr Ricketts and the hospitals in Darenth. The staff were excellent - very helpful and I found exactly what I was looking for. Veg Pret coffee and sandwich around the corner was nice too!!

Had a lovely tour and listened to some intriguing talks here. I visited for the Annual Huntley memorial lecture and had a lovely day on the whole. I would recommend that the credentials of guest speakers are better screened as an incident occured on the day during a sessional workshop in which a group 'ganged up' against an individual which saw them verbally attacking her and making outlandish accusations to humiliate and embarrass the individual. It was very upsetting to witness and I beleive better precautions should be put in place to safeguard visitors.

LMA is Covid-secure with lots of ventilation and space. The Information Area includes use of the reference library, computers, microfilm reader, browsing the paper catalogues and use of the facsimile maps. There are no copying facilities but you can pay for a one day camera pass to take your own photographs. Close by to the lovely Exmouth Market there are lots of great places to have lunch!
