After receiving a diagnosis of breast cancer abroad, I rushed home and was given an appointment on the NHS. Three days before I was due to be seen, it was postponed due to the junior Doctors strike. As I knew so little about my diagnosis, I couldn't face waiting in the dark for 12 more days, so I found Prof Vaidya online. After reading a ton of glowing reviews and his impressive credentials, I rang his secretary. To my surprise, he answered the call himself. I explained my situation, sent him my biopsy results and, ten minutes later, we spoke on Zoom. Prof Vaidya was so gentle and reassuring, giving me the positive context to my diagnosis that I so desperately needed. Within two and a half weeks, I had further tests done, followed by a lumpectomy. I cannot speak highly enough of Prof Vaidya. He takes the time to talk to you and listen to all your concerns, as well as answering all your questions. Any queries I had were dealt with quickly, and he even contacted me after work hours to check how I was, as well as ringing me with tests results as soon as they came through. As a surgeon he is thorough, meticulous and clearly an expert in his field. As a human being, he is kind, patient, and compassionate - showing genuine care for his patients. He helped make the scariest time of my life bearable and gave me the confidence to approach my operation with positivity and good humour. If, like me, you need to see a breast surgeon quickly, I wholeheartedly recommend Prof Vaidya. I have now been referred back to the NHS, but I am so grateful to have found this wonderful surgeon and I will remember his contribution to my life forever.

In Oct 22 my regular mammogram with the NHS led to a diagnosis of early stage breast cancer. Through research on 'Google' for treatment options I read about TARGIT -IORT, intraoperative radiotherapy administered at the time of a lumpectomy. This had many advantages for my diagnosis and circumstances. Unfortunately the NHS is not yet making this available throughout the UK, only two hospitals have the resiurces and experience to provide it. Having decided I wanted to have IORT with a lumpectomy, I again researched through 'Google', private health services and Professor Jayant Vaidya was by far the most experienced professional in the field. He is after all one of the research founders for the treatment. I have found Prof Vaidya and his team which includes Prof Jeffrey Tobias,Oncologist, (also a research founder for IORT), to be very professional, informative, efficient and kind, responding to all my queries and worries very promptly. The preparation for surgery was detailed with Prof Vaidya overseeing every check and test. Staff were reassuring when they told me how meticulous he was in his work. I felt very safe in his care. The surgery experience was much less traumatic than I anticipated . The recovery was quicker than I thought and while there was some discomfort it was virtually painless. My scar is very neat . I have no other side effects from the IORT radiation or lumpectomy. I am fully aware there is no guarantee that the breast cancer will not reoccur . But I am very pleased with my present treatment. I highly recommend Professor Vaidya and his team . I also hope the NHS will extend this IORT treatment to more hospitals . Geraldine MC Manus

I found Professor Vaidya by searching the internet for treatment options for my early stage breast cancer. His almost immediate response to my query, on the day of the Queen's funeral, was a sign of how he would continue to respond - quickly. Just what I wanted. More than that his pioneering treatment of Intra Operative Radiation Therapy (IORT) seemed a natural choice for me. Why not have the radiation treatment at the time of surgery? It seemed an entirely obvious choice and he was the obvious person to do my surgery. Throughout my consultations and subsequent treatment Professor Vaidya has been approachable, willing to answer as many questions as I could ask, reassuring, and importantly, at the top of his field. I cannot recommend him, his team and this treatment enough. I am very grateful for his skill but also his treatment of me, his patient has exceeded all my expectations. Thank you Professor. For everything. Now the hope must be that this can soon be rolled out within the NHS.

I have had three consultations with Professor Vaidya. He was courteous, very informative, clear and concise. Although the operation was delayed from 3.00pm to 5.00pm, it was conducted to my satisfaction. The feedback from the biopsy seems to suggest that I am on track to a life free from this cancer.

I underwent a lumpectomy with intraoperative radiotherapy and Professor Vaidya was with me every step of the way - from initial Zoom conferences to various tests and scans, to meeting me at recovery, and to excellent after care. He always had time to listen to my questions, and was prompt in responding to texts, emails or calls from me. He eased the passage of a difficult circumstance for me, and I had confidence in him every step of the way. I could ask him any question I felt the need to, and his support staff of nurses were also excellent. There was never any sense of him being in a rush, and his approach of respectful friendliness was most reassuring.

Prof Jayant Vaidya is a superb surgeon, and I am delighted with the result of my lumpectomy surgery. Prof, known affectionately by his colleagues listened to my initial anxieties and spent a great deal of time explaining the procedures to me beforehand. I believe he researched every detail of my particular case before he operated to make sure I got the best result. I felt very safe & confident of his ability to make the best decisions for me under his care. I was also very touched that he kept in contact with me after my operation to check how I was feeling, calling me on a Saturday morning on his day off. He also guided me through the next stage of my treatment, giving me the best advice form his knowledge and experience as a cancer breast surgeon. I would recommend Prof Vaidya to any of my loved ones and friends. Thank you Prof Claire x

Prof Jayant Vaidya is an artist, I barely have a scar from my lumpectomy. He also saved me from having 6 weeks of radio therapy by suggesting IORT - a pioneering treatment he developed with University College Hospital Medical School. He is kind, accessible and always across the latest research. I cannot recommend him highly enough
