Local Plumbers came out to me yesterday, charged me £540 + £160 for a new part. Down £700 and my boiler still doesn’t work. (The part I went to buy myself, have a brand new fan in a broken boiler if anyone wants one) The guy that came out was lovely but it’s shocking that they’d still charge us £540 for 4 hours 15 minutes labour and the issue isn’t solved. Have spoken to multiple of my tradesmen friends since yesterday and they said that’s a liberty, they’d never charge that much money for a job they couldn’t complete. Still have no hot water, a freezing house that we can’t stay in and have just had to buy a new boiler as they couldn’t figure out what the issue was. For that kind of money I’d expect the problem to be fixed or at least the decency of them to only charge us for the actual labour that took place (replacing a fan) and to have there own tools. First time buyers out £700 and can’t stay in our house as it’s freezing. They also charged us £90+VAT for the 15 mins over 4 hours. Shocked.

Ask £105+VAT for a Gas Certificate. If it fails you have to pay again. It is called Local but it is not. My gas Certificate never failed before. They ask for the money upfront and they can do anything they want. Will never use them again.
