A very streamlined and easy process. I had my third donation yesterday, every time I've been in and out within an hour, but the process never cuts corners for the sake of rushing you. For my first time, everyone was very reassuring. Everyone I dealt with already knew it was my first donation before we spoke, and all took the extra time to make sure I was relaxed and informed of the process. They're very good at handling new donors, and for regulars the process is effortless. I can't recommend donating enough, and especially at this particular donor centre. I plan to donate here as often as I can, for as long as I can!

It was my first time donating blood and the experience didn't go quite as planned. The donation centre is easy to find, but not exactly local to me. There are a couple of NCP car parks just around the corner, but beware, the one I parked in cost me over eight pounds for just over two hours. Initially I found the staff in the donation centre to be very professional and caring. However, there was a problem getting the blood out of me. My wife thinks that because I'm a Yorkshireman I'm just being tight . Anyway, one member of staff was asked to check the needle in my arm, but she misunderstood and disconnected me. This ended the donation too early, and I'd only donated roughly half of what I was supposed to. After that, I felt as though I was being rushed out of the chair. Once standing, I was actually pushed towards the seating area where you're meant to have a cup of tea, or whatever you fancy, but on that day the hot drink machine was broken. I yearned for a simple kettle to fix the problem, but instead I settled for an orange juice. The moment I tipped the last drop into my mouth I was thanked for my donation. I took this to mean I was free to go ( or not hang around) and so I left, feeling a little underwhelmed by the whole adventure. I've not been put off donating blood and have already set up my next appointment, at a different donation centre, closer to home.
