I took my mum to a glass blowing workshop for her birthday, and we both enjoyed the experience, with special thanks to Johns assistant who was very helpful and kind (didn't catch her name unfortunately). However, it is now 3 months later and we still have not received our glass, despite the fact that John assured us he would be posting it out that week. I have attempted to contact John via email and phone but have had minimal response, and when I have managed to speak to John he has been extremely dismissive. We travelled a couple of hours to get to the workshop as we were very keen and had read that they post out the glass after it has cooled down so this was an important aspect of the workshop for us. Hopefully we will finally receive our glass in due course.

Fantastic morning with an intro to glassblowing taster session! John is clear, informative and patient, glassblowing is definitely not as easy as the professionals make it look! I have a new found respect for glasswork now and can’t wait to collect my pieces next week. Such a great experience!

I booked to learn glassblowing at Liverpool Bay Hotshop and attended in March. I didn’t have an enjoyable experience. John was extremely critical but not in a constructive way. He seemed to give far more guidance to the other students. The other people taking the course at the same time were shocked and commented to me on how unhelpful and unpleasant John was to me. I would ask for help and John would not help me. He did not give instruction on how to do different things. He would wait for me to fail then criticise me. I don’t think my expectations were unreasonable because I’ve done lots of different similar classes before. I was really disappointed.

It was our first time trying glass blowing and we spent the whole time completely mesmerized, John and Saskia were absolutely fantastic teachers and just lovely people.
