I had a very mixed experience with Lings Triumph in Ipswich. When I visited the showroom the team were great but towards the end the experience was less so. I put down a holding fee on a Trident but after completing a back to biking course I decided that for now I wanted a bike that I could comfortably flat-foot. I sent an email to request my holding fee to be returned explaining the reason why. In response to my request I received an email questioning my ability to flat-foot the bike. The email stated that 'according to the team I was able to flat-foot the bike when I viewed it' and 'would hate for me to lose out on a £1,000 discount'. Having successfully obtained two masters degrees with Distinction I'm pretty confident that I have the ability to determine if I can flat-foot a motorbike without requiring the input of others. Would a man have been questioned as to whether or not he could flat-foot a bike... I very much doubt it. It's unfortunate because when I visited the showroom the staff were fantastic and very knowledgeable. I really hope the team reflect and learn from this having just lost a cash buyer.

I took my CBR650R, that I bought new from Lings in October 2020, in for its second service. I received an email three days before the service on which it gave all the servicing details for my approval then a phone call a day later asking if I was ok with it and did I have any problems with the bike. The service was completed to my total satisfaction, as usual, by Ben, who has serviced all my Hondas over the years, whilst I sat in their showroom drinking their free coffee and reading my book. The staff are friendly and easy to chat and joke with as us bikers do. Highly recommended.

Recently purchased a new Tiger 900 from Ipswich Triumph. My original visit to the dealership in mid June went well and the test ride was simple to arrange. While I was there Josh took my order and that seemed tricker than I would have expected. I was purchasing the bike via my business but he put it through as a personal purchase initially. We got that corrected before I left. The bike was due to arrive mid / end of August. While looking on the Lings group website towards the end of July (ahead of my estimated order date) I noticed they were showing stock available at the Watton branch for the exact make / model /spec of bike I was waiting for. The following day I called Watton and they confirmed they had a bike available to purchase. I quickly called Josh at Ipswich to find out where my bike was. He said that was strange but he would call Watton and find out. A few calls backwards and forwards and I was promised the bike in the showroom would be mine. All they had to do was arrange for it to be moved between dealerships as they are the same group. The fun really started a day or two later when I called to ask when I could collect my bike from Ipswich to be told that there was no bike for me and they were still waiting for another one from Triumph... WHAT?!!! I was 100% promised that they had a bike physically in the showroom for me. Josh even emailed me to pick the registration number for my new bike?! After this news I decided to visit the Watton dealership and there were 3/4 bikes matching my order in the showroom. I explained the situation to the chap there and he was shocked. Sadly all of these bikes were pre-sold / allocated and I would still have to wait for mine. At this point I nearly cancelled my order but really wanted this model. Another day or 2 passed and I get a call to say my bike had arrived at their Harleston depot and would be with me any day. All they had to do was get the accessories fitted and go through the PDI. This is where another problem arose. Since placing my original order Triumph had discontinued various accessories. Not the dealers fault but they could have informed me sooner that some parts would not be available. Eventually I got a date agreed to collect the new bike and the handover was completed by Jake and all went smoothly. Sadly all of this plus the lack of communication / after sales care means I can not possibly recommend anyone orders a new bike from this dealership. I may consider trying the Watton dealership in the future but as they are part of the same group, i'm not overly confident things will go and smoother.

Personally I wouldn't recommend this place, and indeed it has soured the brand Triumph in my eyes. Firstly I purchased my Triumph from a bike dealer up north, I was sold a mess of a motorbike which I had no idea was in the mess it was in, and this is not Lings Suffolk fault. After my dealings with Lings Suffolk I ended up writing a seven page letter of complaint about my experience direct to triumph and Lings which initially was answered by the latter with a standard customer service e-mailed response of 'we are sorry we did not meet your expectations' amongst other such standard customer service nonsense quotes ... I was not impressed. I have since been told direct by Triumph that the matters I raised have been discussed with the General Manager of Triumph who had a meeting with the Group Aftersales Manager and my case was discussed and the expectations going forward of Triumph were also discussed. - still leaves me with a motorbike that is not in the same condition as when it was taken in to Lings Suffolk but hey 'who cares' - anyone?! - Nope didn't think so. They dropped and damaged my bike, causing £150 damage that I was eventually paid for, sent me away with an indicator that didn't work, a stereo system that did not work as it did before and different colour headlight bulbs ?! fitted for free I might add after the indicator fiasco. They also seemingly fixed a wiring issue that they wanted to still charge me over £1000 to 'fix' and an exhaust that sounds like a tank. I felt totally let down by them and exasperated beyond belief at my treatment. Yes, they gave me a few free hours of looking into a speedo/clocks issue which was given as a direct result of the poor service I had received on the previous visit but also expected me to leave the bike with them to be worked on 'as and when' by them ?! crazy huh? - not like I need the bike I was riding on a daily basis. They had used an excuse about the age of the bike and the mileage as to why the job was going to take longer changing header pipes on the bike, even though they had seen the bike to diagnose the problem initially and quote the time it takes to do the job (another near £1,000 job too i might add). Their final words of 'here's the key you can get out now' after my final visit summed up my relationship with them and more importantly their views on me as a Triumph rider and strangely a customer?! As said, Lings Suffolk not at fault for the Triumph I had purchased but at fault for appalling customer service, appalling treatment of a customer who was going to spend £2,000 to fix a naff bike and leaving me a bike that is in a worse condition than when the bike was taken in to them. Bike is now unusable, MOT expired. Admittedly it seems I am in the minority amongst these reviews but having ridden for over 30 years I have never had such treatment by a dealership and I don't see why I should stay quiet on the issue and not put this review in.

Would rate a 0 if possible. Never known such a incompetent business in my life. I would never buy a triumph again due to staff at this showroom.

Lings service my Honda adventure sport. Top services each time. I travel 30 miles each way for the services and for the main 16k I leave the bike with them, walk to cineworld and have bite to eat. Staff friendly and point out issues should they find any, also keep you well informed of costs. Waiting area if preferred with complimentary coffees and toilet facilities. No guest WiFi. Would be happy to pay a few £ to remote work whilst waiting if option existed.
