I would rate 0 stars if google let me! It was good in 2019 come in December 2022 and was rubbish 1. There were cables everywhere 2. Sound through broken speakers 3. Some lights were broken 4. in 2019 we parked on the Bury Old Rd car park but this year we parked there and got locked in!! The security guard was extremely rude and didn't want to let us out. We've sent a formal complaint. Would not go again just go to lightwaves at Salford quays.

Lightopia is the way! Been two years in a row now at Christmas and it's great highly recommend. First year was with my family. My daughter loved it. Second time was through work. I took a young man with learning disabilities through and he loved it too. If your on the bench about going over the Christmas period just go. It's worth it.

Visited Dec 2022 - An awful experience and nothing like previous lightopia visits to Manchester and Alton Towers. There were barely any lanterns and the trail full of loud obnoxious fairground rides. The trail music was distorted with broken speakers and any lanterns actually on the trail had fallen over/broken/dirty. Sent a formal complaint email to lightopia demanding a refund before even leaving the park. Heaton park staff agreed lightopia should not have been run this year as it was clear they had reduced the lanterns to save money on energy.

First time we have been to Lightopia after thinking about it previus years. It was all a bit under whelming which was a shame, as we took our family of young adults who were back for Christmas. It took less than an hour to walk around at a gentle pace. The light show on the water was the best feature, otherwise I wouldn't recommend unless you have very young children. Ticket price didn't reflect the experience.
