Like many sports centres controlled by life leisure (that I have visited) it suffers from the usual issues of lack of maintenance and ridiculous cost. The sports hall gets roasting hot in the summer months (a fairly murky semi transparent roof and no attempt at temperature control apart from opening the fire doors - which will happily blow closed without warning) and freezing cold in the winter (no heating and again the roof does not help). The original heating and cooling systems in the hall are still fitted but stopped working ages ago (possibly decades now). The lighting in the hall is more appropriate to a warehouse with a number of them being out of action when visited in June 2022. The floor of the hall should have been redressed many many moons ago and will deposit a white residue on your shoes as you go sliding across it. The markings on the hall floor are more suited to conceptual art than a sports hall. It seems that there are no obvious/easy to access water fountains and instead a set of vending machines are given prime spots in the entrance (any ideas of environmental responsibility and reducing plastic waste should be considered an alien concept). My understanding is that a number of schools in the Stockport area have taken back control and Priestnall should do the same, but some serious investment is required to get the facility back into a decent state, but in either case and short of some form of black magic it's unlikely to happen on a scale that will make a significant difference.

The floor is very slipy and when playing badminton you will slip. The lighting is awful as well at the roof is a plastic sheet that is partly transparent making the shuttle hard to see.
