FAQ

What is the student-to-teacher ratio at your nursery school?

At LEYF Harrow Road Nursery & PreSchool, we maintain a low student-to-teacher ratio to ensure that each child gets individual attention and care. Our ratio varies depending on the age group, but it is always within the guidelines set by the Early Years Foundation Stage.

Can you provide information on your curriculum and teaching philosophy?

We follow the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework, which focuses on the holistic development of children. Our curriculum is play-based and child-centered, and we encourage children to learn through exploration and inquiry. Our teaching philosophy is centered around fostering a love for learning, building independence, and promoting social and emotional development.

What is the daily schedule like for students at your nursery school?

Our daily schedule is structured to provide a balance of play, learning, and rest. We follow a routine that includes time for free play, group activities, outdoor play, meal times, and rest time. Our schedule is flexible and can be adjusted to meet the needs of individual children.

Can parents observe classroom activities or participate in school events?

Yes, we encourage parents to participate in school events and observe classroom activities. We believe that parents are an important part of a child's learning journey, and we welcome their involvement. We have an open-door policy and parents can arrange to observe classroom activities or meet with teachers at any time.

What measures do you take to ensure the safety and security of students on your premises?

We take the safety and security of our students very seriously. Our premises are equipped with security cameras, and we have strict protocols in place for pick-up and drop-off. All visitors are required to sign in at the front desk, and we conduct regular safety drills to prepare for emergency situations. Our staff members are trained in first aid, and we have clear policies and procedures for dealing with accidents and illnesses.

Grateful for all the staffs at this nursery. My child started attending here since she was 10 mos. old and now 32months. They have not only helped in building my child’s confidence in learning but they also helped in shaping her values and conduct. Kudos to all. From the kitchen staff, to the teachers, assistants and managing staffs for all their dedication and hardwork in creating a safe and a nurturing environment for all the children here. Thank you ♥️♥️♥️

If I could leave a rating higher than 5 stars I would. I can’t describe how amazing the staff are. My son entered the nursery at 17 months old. He learnt how to speak fluently ahead of his age. He acquired great manners and would never say anything without thank you and please. They taught him discipline , how to express himself and ask for what he wants. My son has quickly developed and flourished with them. The food menu is amazing exposing the kids to all different kinds of food and flavours. Kids spend their day doing various activities and are never bored. They also do a lot of trips for the kids. This nursery is life changing for the kids and I can’t recommend it enough.

My child attended for roughly a year and to say at the start with the first manager I was impressed but there were a few promises that didn't live up to scratch like not being sent home with home activities, not getting the LEYF bag to hold things in at nursery straight away and then that manager left. Also no-one cared to mention at the introduction to the nursery that they were planning to close down by the summer of 2020 as the area was being re-generated over a number of years so the nursery would move to a temporary building and site and by the time they finish, my child would be in primary school. My main gripe is with the management style, it felt honestly like a money grabbing operation at times where there was no attempt to facilitate changes/absences and you felt like you were being penalised and held prisoner by the 6 week! notice to leave to get your deposit back and then even that is not calculated how you would expect. Just very hard and inflexible and it just felt frustrating to deal with the manager to negotiate reasonable terms as she would keep giving the line that it's company policy and nothing to do with her. Just no attempt of trying to be understanding. Even now with the lockdown I see the emails they send to parents about making the payments even while the nursery is closed which takes a line of threatening kids losing their place at the nursery and guilt-tripping by saying there are parents who are voluntarily paying the whole nursery fee. I think that's unrealistic and pressurising in an extremely unpredictable and stressful time. There's a weekly newsletter that is very sweet but there are so many typo's and language errors in them. However, a plus would be that they have some really good staff in the baby & toddler rooms who were just lovely teachers and really took good care of my child. The activities they did and the layout of the nursery is very good and also the bonus of having their own on-site chef aswell serving up very delicious nutritious meals.
