    I travelled from Ireland to try to get my size after ordering online and receiving gear that was too big. After reading reviews on Google I was expecting very good service but was bitterly disappointed. Initially staff were helpful in getting sizes. I found it difficult to get my size in breeches so had to try on multiple pairs. I asked the lady a few times how the breeches/ jacket were meant to fit and no matter what I tried on I was told it looked fine. She hardly looked at me to check and gave absolutely no sizing advice. I am a beginner so I needed help. Both members staff were very dismissive and unhelpful. I asked to try on a lame after picking the right size for the whites and heard the women sigh and say to the other man " what does she want now". The man told me he didn't have the size, so I asked if I could try the same size in a different version(ultralight), he seemed annoyed that I was asking at all. I felt very uncomfortable at this point and apologised for being a pain. The man just smirked and half laughed. The shop that day had maybe two other customers max and staff were not busy so I definitely shouldn't have been made to feel that I was putting them out in any way . A kind man who was getting new blades was more helpful than both the staff and helped advise me on what sizes to get. He got a chest protector from the training centre upstairs to try on with the jacket which was really helpful as I could see how things would fit. Before leaving I went in to fold all the jackets/ breeches up. It took a long enough time as there were so many and I wanted to leave them back neat. The shop lady came into the changing room and didn't say a word after glaring at me and then left. I was made to feel like they thought I was stealing. I told the man I was taking these sizes and he said " just take them" and walked back into the back. I had to ask again if I could have proof of exchange to which I was told I needed an invoice but I had already given it to them and they had it in the back. The girl came out from the back, gave me a dirty look and asked me in a very rude way where I had gotten the chest protector from. It felt like she was accusing me. Before arriving I wanted to try on the X-charge mask but after the treatment I received I wanted to get out of the shop as quickly as I could. I would not recommend going to Leon Paul at all, the staff are rude and unhelpful. I felt like crying after the whole experience, it was a waste of a flight. I have never felt more unwelcome or uncomfortable in my life

    Leon Paul London store is everything you see online, but with personalized top notch customer service. I buy all of my kids’ fencing equipment from Leon Paul London. I’ve experienced both in-store and online shopping experience, and they’re both on point. Zahra has been my main point of contact and she has always gone above and beyond, even in the midst of COVID-19. Whatever I need and mind you, I am in the US, she has always gotten everything I need as soon as possible. All of the employees there are attentive and great.

    Reading the other reviews I can only assume that those people have never had the misfortune to deal with Leon Paul's customer service department. I had an issue with a lightweight sabre lame that fell apart after one use. Grudgingly they agreed to exchange. A date and time agreed. Given the poor quality of the first item it made sense to check the replacement rather than being sent more substandard kit. I travelled for 2 hours to get there, waited for half an hour in the shop, then was told that the replacement was not in stock. I asked for a refund. A 5 hour round trip that could have been avoided by Leon Paul simply sending a message. 30 quid in travel for nothing. Leon Paul market's itself as both manufacturer and retailer, by fencers for fencers. Problems happen, but when they are not rectified, particularly when a number of items are sold as premium kit with a premium price tag, you may as well use someone else.

    I placed a big order with them and while it was posted reasonably quickly, I then found the jacket didn't fit even though I followed the size guide exactly and then have no choice but to pay my own return postage due to their size guides not being very helpful. As a woman buying a woman's jacket you'd think they'd give more than a chest measurement, as it doesn't even come close to doing up around the hips! The socks are also pretty tight around the calves, just because I have small feet doesn't mean my calves are tiny. They take a long time to process returns so still waiting on a jacket replacement. My partner also placed a large order and is still waiting for it, to find out because the glove is out of stock they are holding onto a mask, jacket, plastron and socks, and rudely got told that it's in the small print of terms and conditions that they don't post until everything is in stock (how ridiculous), with no guidance of when it will be in stock. For such an expensive and reputable brand, you'd think they'd have some kind of decent customer service but no.

    Not so happy with online shop experience. The only delivery option is £10 DHL (next day? Doesn’t say so) to London address. Seriously? No collection in store, no Royal Mail, no other options to choose from. And I just need a pair of breeches. Not smth bulky. Disappointing.

Have been using Leon Paul equipment since 1988 and despite flirtations with PBT and Allstar, have always come back to LP for their constant innovation, quality and their Britishness. A true multi generational, family business that have become the market leaders by building a solid brand that is true to their rich heritage, selling made in UK products and always pushing the envelope on their products. Great products, superb service, peerless brand.
