Lendal Tower The tower was built in about 1300 and formed part of the river defense with Barker Tower. In 1677 the tower was leased for 500 years to the York Waterworks Company. Water was pumped from the tower into pipes that ran throughout York. In 1836 a dedicated engine house was built next to it, which is the small red brick building on the left. Since that period the tower has had a variety of uses.

This tower has been renovated to an awesome standard keeping as many original features as would appear possible. This building was left to decay but is now a warm welcoming home from home, with not 1 but 5 floors for up to 6 people. Great lounge, dinning room, kitchen and access to the garden on ground floor, 1st floor is a beautiful oak mezzanine bedroom with glass balustrade overlooking the lounge below. 3rd floor is another bedroom with ensuite, 4th floor is a huge bedroom with ensuite and the 5th floor is a huge roof top decking area with glass balustrade which allows magnificent views of the river and the surrounding York skyline. All floors accessed by a spiral staircase in the tower and an added bonus is it comes with off street parking which is in an arch of Lendal Bridge. Highly recommended and will definitely be returning as soon as we can.
