What is the teacher-to-student ratio in your Montessori classrooms?

At Leicester Montessori School, we maintain a low teacher-to-student ratio to ensure that each child receives individualized attention and support. Our ratio varies depending on the age group, but it is typically around 1:10 or lower.

How do you incorporate technology into your Montessori curriculum?

While our primary focus is on hands-on, experiential learning, we do incorporate technology into our curriculum when appropriate. For example, we may use tablets or computers for research or to enhance a lesson, but we do not rely on technology as the sole means of instruction.

Do you offer any after-school programs or extracurricular activities for students?

Yes, we offer a variety of after-school programs and extracurricular activities for our students, including music, art, dance, and sports. We believe that these activities help to enrich our students' experiences and provide opportunities for them to explore their interests.

How do you assess student progress and provide feedback to parents?

We use a variety of assessment methods, including observation, checklists, and portfolios, to track student progress and ensure that each child is meeting their individual goals. We provide regular feedback to parents through parent-teacher conferences, progress reports, and daily communication.

What is your approach to discipline and classroom management in the Montessori environment?

In the Montessori environment, we believe in fostering independence and self-discipline in our students. We provide clear expectations and guidelines for behavior, and we encourage children to take responsibility for their actions. We also use positive reinforcement and redirection to promote positive behavior and maintain a peaceful classroom environment.

AWFUL NURSERY- STAY AWAY! I wouldn’t give any star if could. Here goes my story. I decided to put my 2 year old son in this nursery as I believe in Montessori philosophy but turns out they don’t apply any of the Montessori principles. When I went there, babies and toddlers were mixed up and many were crying. My son could not adjust even after a few months, he used to cry at each drop off and would run crying to us at pick up. He would stay in a corner and the staff did not help him engage with others and left him alone all the time. All he would ask is ‘when is daddy coming?’ and the staff would say 1. When I asked the staff about him, I wouldn’t get proper feedback on what my son was doing. As my partner and in laws used to drop him and pick him up (I couldn’t see him in situ or see the nursery staff) I decided to meet the management to come up with a decision on whether to continue this or not as my son would cry each time he had to go there. He hated it so much that it affected him mentally and physically ( he would not eat Anything for the time he has there which is 5hrs!!). I think I met with Marie and another lady who said that it takes time to adjust and I should still keep him another month to see if things improved. It had been 4 months approx and I did not see things improving so decided to take him off the nursery!! My son had suffered enough. The whole objective of nursery was for him to enjoy the experience, learn and socialise as we didn’t have any childcare issues. So anyway, I spoke to them and wrote an email to confirm this to a lady called Anne to refund us the deposit. In the meantime, our monthly standing order for the nursery was paid to them for the next month. I explained that we had forgotten to cancel it and would like the money back as my son had already stopped nursery. I wrote many emails and called them numerous times and each time the answer would be ‘end of next month’, ‘end of next week’ etc and it has been 7 months now and we still have not received any payment (£334)!! I went to see Sue the manager who said she can’t do anything because Anne deals with the finances. I went to London road nursery hoping to see Anne but apparently she works in another office nobody knows about? How is that possible that colleagues don’t know where your office is? The lady there (Rashika) said she can’t do anything for us either and asked me resend another email to Anne who never replied. It seems we will never recover that money. They are so ready to sign you up but unwilling to repay us and if the staff of the nursery cannot do anything for us, then who can??? This nursery is an absolute rip off, very unprofessional and totally hypocritical. They do not care about your children, they are just there to make money. I also wonder why they have the Montessori name if they don’t apply anything of it?! My son is in another nursery now which he loves and he has even made friends. I am so glad we decided to stop this nursery.
