Used for divorce. I started off liking the firm and my solicitor, but began to lose confidence in the support and advice I was being given part way through the process due to errors, assumptions, generic advice and some of my emails supposedly not arriving, but later finding that they had. But being too far into the process I felt unable to change solicitor. Towards the end I felt like I was being bullied by my solictor to continue and my ex and in a pit of never ending cost, as entering into a dialogue about my concerns or even just chasing for an update cost a minimum of £50 a time. The end fees were three times the amount initially quoted, which in part was due to my ex delaying and changing agreements, but also due to how my solictor managed the process. There is a complaints procedure which I entered into, but despite having what I felt was enough evidence to warrant some financial rebate, I was told each item had not been upheld. I was told I could go to the Ombudsman if I wished to take it further. In summary, how I thought solicitors may be, but not at all how I hoped they would be.
