I needed a solicitor to undertake the conveyancing on a property. Having searched for a law company on the web, I found Latimer Lee. Whilst reading through their website I felt that they were a reputable company and oddly enough felt comfortable to call them. Normally the image of a company on a website doesn't always mean they are proficient but their website sent (to me anyway) a message of sincerity. The complete process of obtaining my property was that of good communication and clear instructions and good guidance. Michael was my (professional) contact at their Bury office and was polite and helpful.

Gets better. When we sold out flat (details below) they missed information on the deeds that said we actually owed the flat next door. So we had to pay several hundreds to have further legal work done to rectify this when we sold They had a solicitor take our file home with him while he was taking two weeks off (but it was ok because his sister could bring it back in) data protection anyone? And they repeatedly got the price for all the work wrong (by hundreds) but fortunately we doubled checked it. We did send a letter of complaint. It got ignored. Latimer Lee. Shame on you. Debra Woods? She had to pick up the case from the previous fellow (Amir). Neither are bad people I’m sure but you didn’t follow up! Gutted. Stressed. Financially worse off. And ignored. I would never recommend this company. —— At the end of this review I said they resolved my latest issue (which had been going on for 6 weeks) within 48 hours of me chasing... well guess what? Today (almost 2 months later) I get an email from our managing agent chasing us telling us that Latimer Lee have not paid them and will be passing this on to their solicitor in the next 10 days to chase myself and my partner... who will incur legal charges as well. Let me say - appalling - once more. ------------- Appalling. We rented a flat and bought a nice flat in Brighton. We were repeatedly told we'd be exchanging next week, later this week, tomorrow... but no one ever came back to confirm. Turns out the vendors lost their property and the chain collapsed. We only found out by speaking to the vendor's estate agents. It's a sad state of affairs when the people you're told are sharks (ie. the vendors Estate Agents) are the only people you can trust. Anyway... vendors found a property and guess what? Told we'd be exchanging next week, later in the week... and so on. 50% truth and 50% lies. Took bang on 4 months in total which would've been ok had we been told the truth. Unfortunately we lived in a rented flat with a 6 month contract due to expire which put us under even more pressure. In the flat 3 months and we're told we owe a large amount of money to the managing agent. Not us... it was the old vendors account that hadn't been cleared. 6 weeks after raising this with Latimer Lee (on more than one occasion and being told it would be sorted) we get a phone call saying the managing agent will be taking legal action against us unless we clear the account and get it paid by the end of next week. Today I'm told this will be sorted and I'll be updated by the end of business tomorrow... fingers crossed! Don't use Latimer Lee - spend a bit more money and pick someone local that was recommended. The broker who recommended them was equally useless but that's another story : ) Professionals ain't professional. ------------------ Edit: "Today I'm told this will be sorted and I'll be updated by the end of business tomorrow... fingers crossed!" Just wanted to add that this pain in the backside that ran on for 6 weeks was resolved as promised by the end of business today. Credit for that.

For a remote conveyancing service they are pretty good and did look after our best interest. They could make a few changes to help with their work load by updating the portal. The conveyancing process could be made easier by making it more structured and transparent but overall the service provided was good.
