I visited Chris at Last Wishes to make a funeral plan. Although I am currently fit and well I wanted to take the burden off the shoulders of my friends and family when I do die; and to give them some guidance about what I might like for a funeral. I didn’t know what I wanted, but I did know a more conventional funeral was not for me. Chris listened carefully, sensitively and empathetically, guiding, advising and drawing on the wealth of contacts she has. She was also very aware of costs, tailoring to my means. This resulted in a celebration of life plan that is unique and, I feel, reflects who I am. I cannot thank Chris enough for the way she invited me to consider the role of friends and family in this celebration to support their grieving process. I recommend Chris’ services unreservedly. Would highly recommend last wishes and Chris, she took such great care of my Dad and me.. with lots of interesting conversations about we could do, which was so refreshing not to be forced in to a 1 fits all plan.. our every wish was understood and met with openness and love... Even Dad wanting to donate his brain to the Newcastle brain bank.. Chris was with us and then me every step of the way.. always caring supportive and genuine. I almost cant wait to die myself as I know I would be so well looked after xxx

When my mother died, whilst it was expected, as an only child in my late 30s, this was a very painful time. Mum wanted Last Wishes funerals, so that we could have the best “send off” possible, without being traditional and Chris didn’t disappoint. All contact was prompt and professional, but so compassionate. No question was considered unnecessary and the weight of planning a funeral was taken off my shoulders. Anything that I wanted for mum, Chris did her best to achieve, with the least stress to me possible. I even broke my ankle on the morning of the funeral; I had planned to spend the morning dressing the church, but Chris dressed the church for me, without even questioning it. Despite the obvious sadness of this day, it truly was the best celebration of my wonderful mum’s life and I cannot thank her enough.

Last Wishes Funerals are in my opinion fully worthy of 5 stars. I have now gone to them twice and can only say that Chris is everything I would want from a funeral director. She is honest, compassionate and straightforward, dealing with emotions in just the right way. She helped my family design 2 separate, very fitting funerals that allowed us to say goodbye to family members as we wanted to. Chris's approach is unique and she is, in my opinion, a breath of fresh air. Nothing was too much trouble and she allowed me to be as involved as I wanted when dealing with arranging churches, funeral plots etc. Nobody wants to think about money when saying goodbye to loved ones but her pricing structure is very open and is very budget friendly.
