I think this is under new ownership, its has had some refurbishment and smells of fresh paint and new carpets. The owner is at breakfast each day and making sure that everyone is looked after. It is the budget end of the hotel market, like Holiday Inn or Premier. It is very cost effective.

Last year they cancelled all the rooms I had booked for my wedding and didn't tell me. I found out from my venue 2 weeks before my wedding. And then they refused to refund the (substantial) deposit I had paid. We eventually got the deposit back after lots of stress and perseverance on our part. And then we had the unenviable task of relocating all our guests with absolutley no time to do so... And all through this they didn't care at all and at times were frankly rude. I heard the hotel is reopening- my advice is to stay anywhere else. They don't deserve customers.

Had a room booked, was called with very short notice and told the room was cancelled. This was due to renovations and their policy was to advise two weeks prior to the booking. Wouldn't recommend this hotel at all. As we were told that others had been called a few days before us, it's clear the renovations were not last minute and had been planned for sometime.

Awful customer service - I had them booked for my wedding night (10 rooms in total). I accidentally found out that they going to be closed for renovation (mind-blowing) and they are "looking to relocate us somewhere else". With less than 4 weeks to go to my wedding, I asked when they were thinking of telling me this information, and they said (very casually) - a week before...... One good thing is that I got my money back, but the amount of stress these unprofessional people cased to me and my guests is unbelievable. Needless to say: won't be recommending this place to anyone.
