I’m from Accrington and eaten your Eccles cakes all my life. Suddenly they are a cheap, horrible imitation made with palm oil and other rubbish. Only 10% butter. Awful!!!!

Sometime ago I bit into an Eccles cake and my tooth cracked. There was a pebble inside. I contacted Lacashure Eccles cakes Ltd, who told me that the currants are washed with pebbles and occasionaly one gets through. My dentist tried to fix the crack which cost £100, Ian Edwards reinbursed me, which I was grateful for. For the following year I experienced pain. My dentist told me I needed to have the damaged tooth extracted. I was gutted. I emailed Mr. Edwards to tell him because I wanted him to know what a horrible experience this had been for me and how devastated I felt. He didn't respond! I had the tooth extracted January 6th this year. I sent him a before photo of my lovely teeth and after photo of my space - how horrible I looked. Still no response. My dentist told me to wait for my gum to heal before exploring options as to what could be done for me. Through covid I have to wait and live with a horrible palate. I will have this sorted eventually when it is safe for me to visit my dentist, but until then I am constantly reminded of the fateful day I bit into that Eccles cake. Eccles cakes taste great but I have suffered through eating them. I truly hope that what I have experienced never happens to anyone else.
