The school takes the phones of students knowing having the phone is for their safety on the way home. I am very disappointed about this no one at the school will care if something happens to our children when we are searching and looking for our children knowing anything can happen. I believe this needs to be sorted out and I am very disappointed with the headteacher for allowing the safety of our children to be like this

As the older sister of an autistic year 7 student and a former student at Lambeth Academy, I am horrified that I even have to write this review. I can confidently say that the school was never that great but I genuinely believe that it has only worsened by time. There are several teachers in this school who have only made my little brother’s time at Lambeth Academy horrendous and he is due to begin year 8 in September, meaning that he has only just began his secondary school experience. It is sickening that teachers, who have been given the role to guide students to a successful career in the future to an extent, can completely abandon a child’s needs. Constantly giving him warnings for the noises he cannot control, sending him to the reflection room for the same reasons- they should be beyond ashamed of themselves and I hope by reading this review, they feel some kind of guilt. It is absolutely disgusting that an 11-year-old child returns home from school, miserable by the constant dismissal and mistreatment he receives by these teachers. Did they receive any kind of inclusive training before being hired as a teacher? To display such high levels of ableism, I highly doubt it. I hope that the shame they feel is so immense that they admit to their wrongdoings and that they have the decency to apologise to my brother and my family, who are all just as furious as I am, or at least change their ‘ableist ways’. As a secondary school in the 21st century, Lambeth Academy need to do so much better in terms of catering for and understanding the needs of those who are neurodivergent and specifically, autistic. There is no reason that my younger brother should be arriving home from school every single day, begging my parents to change schools and not return to Lambeth Academy. In fact, the chances of my brother not returning to the school are only increasing at an incredible rate every day. How can a secondary school claim that they are welcoming and accepting of autistic students then completely mistreat these same autistic students? Insanity isn’t even the word to describe this. You need to do better, Lambeth Academy! Sincerely, An infuriated sister who has spoken on the behalf of a distraught student at Lambeth Academy and an equally as infuriated family.
