Searched for ‘Best Tapas In Edinburgh’. This was one of the restaurants that came up. Turned up on Friday and mets some friends. We ordered quite a few dishes between the three of us. When this was done, the manager came to speak to us as she thought we may have ordered a little too much. She explained that some of the dishes would have a lot of potatoes and we could probably drop one. So we did and she was quite right. What we had left was perfectly adequate. I thought this showed that she was more intent on us having a nice dining experience than letting us pay more. The food was excellent. We had 10 dishes in total and each one was exceptional. All three of us agreed. Hot and tasted so fresh. It came out when it was ready, which meant we were able to catch up and really enjoy the night. Dessert was good too. Would definitely be back. Was busy too which is a good sign. Everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves. It definitely lived up to what I was looking for.

Really nice food and a pretty decent sized menu. We were a table of 6 so ordered a good few things and everything was piping hot and delicious. The waitress was helpful and advised us to slightly amend our order to avoid waste and she was absolutely spot on, there was minimal waste and everyone was still full. The drinks were reasonable priced too, and my friend received a free dessert for his birthday which was really tasty and greatly appreciated. The restaurant is in a good location if you are looking for some food before seeing a show at the Playhouse, or getting something to eat after shopping or before heading out at night!

The service was excellent, particularly from Alicia, she was friendly and helpful in making our choice. The chorizo and chicken paella was a bit burnt around the edges so it wasn't that great, maybe I was just unlucky, but part of it was all good. I would go back to try other dishes. Vegetarian options: Vegetarian paella

Short version: delightful & cosy family run tapas restaurant, food & service was absolutely impeccable. Long version: I had planned on trying the tapas place at the new Edinburgh Street food market for Saturday lunch, however as appealing as it looked, after sussing the place out I decided it wasn't for me; bit too noisy and impersonal. I realise most of the young folk these days prefer to not have to interact with someone, and order by QR code from the table but I prefer somewhere where the music is at a respectful volume, and you can have a nice chat with the owner and enjoy your food without being jostled by a bunch of kids out collecting material for Instagram. So I found La Sal across the road to be the answer to my prayers today. Gambas Pil Pil, Morcilla and meatballs washed down with an Estrella (frosty pre-chilled glass - excellent touch) has made me a very happy man and set me up well for the weekend! Thank you guys, I will be back very soon
