    Made appointments to have two iPhone batteries replaced at KRCS Victoria Centre Nottingham. When returning to collect them at the appointed time we were told they weren’t ready yet. After another 45 minutes wait we were told there was a problem with one of the phones after the new battery was installed and that the technician was currently speaking to Apple to see if they would replace the phone as the issue could not be resolved. They said it wasn’t the technicians fault but just one of the things that occasionally happen. Both phones were in pristine condition when handed over with the only issue being battery health degraded to 80%. The health check they performed in store before accepting them for battery replacement was perfect apart from battery health. So, to cut a long story short Apple agreed to replace the phone ‘like for like’ but it would be a couple of days to send it to the shop and no guarantee on a delivery date plus it was coming up to a bank holiday weekend so no deliveries after Friday until Tuesday. We were told to ring after 48 hours - no delivery, told to try again in the afternoon, rang again and was told delivery not yet unpacked but they’d let us know ‘later’. Blood pressure by now was soaring as we were due to go on an 12 day holiday in the early hours of the next morning and all our documents were downloaded to the ‘broken’ phone. They could not offer me a loan phone to use as a temporary measure if the replacement didn’t arrive. Eventually they emailed to say the replacement phone was ready to collect, (luckily I had access to my email on an old laptop and was constantly checking for emails) so travelled back to the shop an hour away plus another lot of car parking to pay. After getting the new phone home it took me several hours to get everything set up such as banking apps that need security checks doing again and the many other things that are not automatically backed up. Not what you need when getting packed and ready immediately before a holiday. No apology from KRCS or satisfactory explanation of what had happened. Shocking service and when I asked if they would refund the £69 cost of the original battery replacement- as they hadn’t after all replaced it I was told I was lucky to have been given a ‘new’ phone!! Apple had ‘given’ them the replacement phone to pass to me so KRCS had incurred no cost for the battery. The phone is an iPhone 8 Plus so is certainty not a new phone. I don’t feel the staff appreciate that not everyone has access to multiple devices and that it’s really not acceptable for them to just say use an alternative device to access all your stuff. Would give zero stars if it was possible. Never again.
