The restaurant itself is very cute and the staff were attentive albeit almost awkwardly too attentive. It wasn't very busy during our dinner so our server was quite literally hovering/standing near our table the entire evening in my line of sight (as were the bartenders, who were also directly across my seat) and this killed the ambiance considerably to be inadvertently watched by three different people all evening. The food was well-presented and there were enough vegetarian options but I can't say anything blew my mind. The broccoli tempura had a good, thin and crispy batter but the chili sauce was overwhelmingly salty. The corn ribs were nothing out of this world and very tiny. There was some Cajun seasoning but it was slightly on the bland side. I had a pea soup to start and this was quite fresh and tasty as was the accompanying crostini, which was loaded with spring vegetables and a fresh cheese (ricotta?). I then had the fergola pasta with asparagus and peas and broadbeans as my main. This was also pleasantly loaded with vegetables but sadly very bland for a £24 entree. In fact, I had to ask for fresh black pepper which I ground on top and this actually improved the taste considerably. I do have higher standards if I'm paying mid-£20s and more for mains and I left the restaurant underwhelmed and also relieved to not be awkwardly stared at any longer. I would give this place the benefit of the doubt and try a lunch special again in future. There's a lot of great potential and the service was very attentive but my overall experience was about a 3.5/5. Vegetarian options: Handful of vegetarian options for snacks, starters and mains

The food was nicely presented and was fine but extremely overpriced for what it was - paying 17 pounds for six pieces of asparagus i would expect something a bit different or interesting or just extremely good - it was fine, not amazing. Rest of the meal followed a similar vibe and some of it was really pretty basic. I think maybe the menu is a bit stretched and too many bases are trying to be covered. Offering deer, fried chicken, fish, pork ribs and tortellini is a bit too many things. It seems like the priority is having a pleasant setting with a pretty safe menu catering for a wide variety of tastes (kind of like the takeaway that offers pizza AND kebab AND burgers). If this is what youre looking for then you wont be disappointed, but if you want to see some really imaginative well executed dishes this is not the place. However, the cocktails were great 10/10, buckthorn in particular.
