Worked here from 2003 to 2008 and had zero prospects of getting a permanent contract. Only way to so was by kissing a## or by competing in a competition called the "Komatsu Olympics". If you came to work and done what was required of you, that still wasn't good enough. The management was terrible and tried to influence Japanese work ethics into a British workforce. It doesn't work in our culture. It was quite sad and somewhat desperate to see how temporary employees would sell each other out and "step" on each other just to get a permanent contract!. I worked all over the factory in my 5 years there and was often praised for my work ethic and skills that I brought in from outside the business. The credit crunch of 2008 sealed my coffin. I reapplied in 2010 when KUK was taking on people and done a skills test and English and maths test. I still was unsuccessful. I later found out that anyone that previously worked there would not be employed again. I would strongly advise that anyone looking for factory work, should look elsewhere. There is a very bad atmosphere there and the attitude of a few permanent staff is terrible towards its temporary employees.
