They claim to offer vetted scientists with expertise in their fields, but my experience looking for clients is that Kolabtree has no quality standards at all. I looked more into the company and found that kolabtree has no more 53 full-time employees, and assume that most of them are web managers and not domain experts. Plus, it's telling that none of the 4-5 star reviews here are from customers--they're from contributors working for the site.

I don’t recommend. Signed on as a client to hire a scientist. Found no one with the experience I needed for my projects. For example, I specified my project details and that I only wanted scientists in the U.S for one of my projects ( because of the nature of the project). Well, 75% of the people who applied to my project were in India. Not a single person in the U.S. as I asked. Another strange experience was posting multiple projects requiring different skill sets and the same people were applying to all of my project posts. I understand people can be trained in many different areas but the fact my projects were very different and even with the specifics I requested, I realized people were just looking for work without regard to what the project required and not even having the ability to do the work. Yes, I realized this too after interviews. I became discouraged when I realized the majority of the scientists were sales people concerned with money- working hard to tell me what I wanted to hear. Glad I did not trust any of them. I’m not saying there isn’t any quality talent; there just wasn’t any for what I needed. I reached out to the Kolabtree team and was told my message would be forwarded to someone. Haven’t heard back so it’s safe to say my concern was not important enough. I don’t recommend. Lastly, Apparently they’re charging scientists a 20% commission? And apparently it’s okay for the scientist to require the client to pay this on their behalf? Bizarre to say the least.
