Trauma and orthopaedics is brilliant! Though they might want to consider having telephone consultations more often than face to face. Long way to travel for a 3 min appointment that doesn't require you being actually seen.

Place and it’s staff is a complete disorganised mess. And they have the audacity to strike for more money. If I was as useless at my job as you all are at yours I’d be jobless.

Following are not my experiences but of my 86 year old neighbour (RW) whom I took to the Dermatology clinic today. It was a follow up visit, 8 weeks ago the GP arranged for RW to be checked for skin cancer at K&C. Four weeks ago RW was seen, doc then said "come back in 4 weeks you need a biopsy". The dept. knew RW had an ICD implant and they knew there were wires implanted. RW was told a cardiologist and a skin specialist would be needed on hand, with specialist equipment. "Everything is in your notes so we must be prepared. Please arrive 15 mins early for your appointment so we can prepare and ensure all the equipment is here." We arrived 20mins early at 8.40a.m. At 9.30 a doc arrived, chatted for 5 mins with reception, got changed and RW was seen. Doc informed RW that there are wires inside in the chest (of course there are, ICD?). "As (1) all the emergency equipment isn't here, (2) I'm on my own here and (3) we're going to need a sterile/scrub area to operate.....we must postpone this procedure, you'll hear from us in about 2 weeks." All the information re ICD and wires etc are in RW's notes. RW had previously been told what was needed re staffing and equipment and it all made sense. What happened today makes no sense at all. In any other field of paid employment, this would be seen as pure incompetence; it's nothing to do with the NHS per se, it's about communication, competence and due diligence by those involved; they have failed this person and if these repeated delays result in a cancer becoming more advanced then when and who carries that burden? I recognise that I'm not RW and therefore my review may not be considered but my experiences are that this is not the first occasion K&C have failed the older person, someone needs to speak for them, so please listen.

I was denied a catheter change because I had missed two appointments. This left me feeling suicidal as my catheter is infected . Also a foreign doctor possibly Indian said the sediment in my urine was cardboard just to get me out the door.are these people thick or what!? Extremely unprofessional and disinterested. I was the only patient in the room and just couldn't be bothered to help. The nurse was really nice though which stopped me from breaking down in tears I was sent from the William Harvey to here because a gp thought it was urgent. I was given a letter explaining but Canterbury refused to help me and two nurses said quite rudely we are NOT LETTING YOU see a gp. And they wouldn't even give me five minutes of their time to answer any questions. I went home in a taxi and the driver said what they did was disgusting to me and that I should not have left the hospital.
