This was an impromptu Sunday lunchtime visit. Intent on walking down King St to another venue, I looked up and saw the Kala sign. I remembered reading a great review so we took the plunge. The interior is cool - possibly a conversion from an office space - whatever, it works. We were immediately greeted and seated by the lovely Dorothy. The dining room was quiet - only a couple of other tables - it did full up but regardless, it was still cool. The kitchen faces in so you can watch the efficient chefs do their thing. We ordered a starter to share - Morcilla sausage (like a Spanish black pudding) - rich and spicy, offset by the pickled apple and port jus, it came with. Sea Bream came on a lightly curried sauce and the rolled roast pork belly was caramelised, crunchy on the outside and succulent in the middle. Delicious. Shared ice cream with honeycomb to finish (honeycomb was great but as a dish, a little underwhelming). Paired wines throughout. Good value for what is effectively ‘relaxed fine dining’. Taxi home for nap - will return soon. PS I took about a third of the pork home and the next day, dry fried it and then sliced it up and put it in a corn tortilla for lunch!

This is the nicest place I've eaten in a long time. The food was out of this world, the service was like nothing I've experienced anywhere else, staff seemed really happy to see you and serve you. The atmosphere was great, busy but not crowded and I really can't say anything wrong about Kala. 10/10. Well done guys Vegetarian options: Brilliant

Came for the Valentine's Day dinner. It was brilliant overall. Their social media is so good that it made us want to visit. The food was perfect, sublime, and seasoned perfectly. It was one of the better meals I've had in Manchester. Only decor critique, the disabled toilets are dingy and need a major decor, floor change and paint. The cocktails for the night we went were lovely, and we kept releating ordering them. The reason I cannot give a 5 star review was the service. While the staff were brilliant and pleasant, after our meal ended, no one came to check on us or brought the bill. We asked for the bill and it didn't come, we then asked a different waiter for the bill, it didn't come, then eventually the first waitress brought it. Overall we had a half an hour wait from asking for the bill, to it actually arriving. Not sure why such a delay. If they hadn't left us waiting, it would have been 5*.

Came here following several recommendations, but I think it was an off night. Both our starters and mains came out with the wrong order and needed to be replaced, and then my main (when the right order arrived) was overcooked + swimming in oil and not edible. To be fair we got several apologies and were not asked to pay. If we were local I might give them another go at lunch and not date night.
