Summary: extremely helpful, knowledgeable and understanding when it comes to assisting customers who don't have a clue about IT and need a little guidance and a substantial repair! I cannot recommend York IT Services highly enough. After a liquid spillage I took my laptop to a very helpful chap named Matt, who diagnosed the problem within 12 hours (actually a dying hard drive rather than a liquid issue). I was offered a repair of the old machine, to buy a new one direct from them, or to source a new one myself. It was a rather difficult and stressful time being without my laptop but the team at York IT services were always very willing to answer my (sometimes rather stupid) questions! Having opted to buy the new machine directly from them, at a very competitive price, there was a very rapid turnaround in transferring my files over before things were ready. For a chap who doesn't know much about computers and relies heavily upon one to work, it was a very stressful time but I was very well informed and guided by Matt. Thanks to York IT Services for all their help!

Absolute ripoff! Went to York IT Services and was told that it would cost 438 GBP to fix, buying a new computer would be cheaper, and that it would take 4 weeks. After not wanting to spend that kind of money, I was still charged 45 GBP for them looking at my computer. They also refused to call me since I have an international number and told me they would email me once they looked at my computer. They never emailed me, I had to call them twice. I later went to KIT York in hope of some better news. KIT York was able to fix my computer in TWO DAYS and charged me 148 GBP instead. That is a 290 GBP difference! My computer is as good as new and it took almost no time to fix. The people working at KIT were also quite nice unlike the people at York IT Services who aren't unfriendly but aren't firendly either. The people at KIT also gave me a new charger for free. Skip York IT Services go straight to KIT.
