Disappointing, came to York for 3 nights for my birthday and was looking forward to a nice stay in a different style of hotel, would of been better off in a holiday inn or a travel lodge. Our room was downstairs underneath the reception, I can’t believe they even sell that room. It was incredible loud and noisy 24/7. The walls were paper thin. Everyday we could hear our friends in the room down the hall from us. We was woken up every hour of the night because they were so loud in reception, we could hear everything! Also our rooms window was on street level so we could hear the bin being dragged around every morning inches from our windows. We was getting no sleep each night and was too tired in the day to enjoy our trip. We asked reception for a change of rooms and they claimed they were fully booked up! They offered us nothing, no apology or no refund or even partial refund! Honeslty just ruined my entire birthday and entire stay. I don’t like complaining but it really upset us. Also there was a bad smell coming for the bin in the room looked like it had never been cleaned. Gross. But I wouldn’t have complained about that if it wasn’t for the rest of the stay being so bad

The place is lovely and thankfully we got move from those claustrophobic rooms in the basement to the lovely n12. I completely understand the need to squeeze as many customers in as the hotel is already quite small, but those are definitely more functional as storage rooms or really as a low cost room (£30 a night). Thank you for changing our room to a much more pleasant and less claustrophobic one! Will be coming back for sure!

Nearby activities: The hotel is right in the center, it down a passage way between the shops. 1 minute walk to the shambles, 4 minute walk to the York Dunegon etc. Safety: To get to the hotel you go down a small passage way between some shops and it's set back behind yhe shops. On an evening there is a gate that is locked, which you get the key code to enter, or buzz for help from the hotel reception, meaning no one can just wander in from the street. Walkability: With the hotel being right in the center, next to shops and restaurants it's easy to walk to anyway. It's about a 10 minute walk from the train station.

We recently stayed at the Judges Court Hotel for our winter honeymoon and cannot recommend this quiet hotel more. The stand alone bath in the bedroom was a real treat! Thank you for your excellent service.
