The bronze Keats statue was created by sculptor Stuart Williamson, and was unveiled by the poet Andrew Motion in 2007. John Keats trained as a surgeon-apothecary at Guy's Hospital before deciding to leave to dedicate his career to poetry. He wrote some of the greatest poems of the Romantic period. He died in Rome of tuberculosis at the age of 25.
