When our son decided he wanted to learn the guitar we started to take him to lessons with John. In the four months since then he has come on in leaps and bounds due solely to John's abilities as a teacher. John's patience, perseverance and obvious skill with a guitar has inspired him to not only learn but practice every day as well. I love listening to music and always thought it would be wonderful to be able to play the guitar but never considered learning myself till recently. At 53 I finally have some spare time to spend learning and practicing. Apart from playing the recorder as a child, I have no previous musical experience so it was all very alien at first. I have had about 7 lessons so far and from the beginning have thoroughly enjoyed the challenge. Each lesson brings a new milestone to achieve - practice is key! John is an excellent teacher and gets the pace of learning just right. I know that many people teach themselves but I really like the fact I am being taught in the correct way. I highly recommend John’s lessons to anyone looking to learn guitar.

I am 73 years old , with no music training at all. Always wanted to play a guitar since having a plastic Elvis one when I was 10. One teacher i had did not have the patience with me and got a bit sarky at times.I gave up, then tried John. I am trying his patience, but he encourages you to keep at it, and understand the reasons for what you are doing. I have gained confidence and I now have an electric guitar. I do not wish to do gigs just enjoy having a chance to play at home. Well done John.

I have been having lessons from John for just over a year, Its always been my ambition to be able to play but as I passed my half century i decided it was now or never. I went to john knowing nothing about playing or theory, within a few weeks i was able to strum a few notes this then spurred me on, I throughly enjoy my lessons with John, he patient, and calm with a methodical approach, He has some great gear in a great setting ( which allows the volume to be turned right up to ear splitting levels) and this together with extensive selection of guitars and media. He is always on hand to advise on what equipment you are considering purchasing, I would highly recommend John- its never too late to start just wish i had taken it up earlier

Years ago, before I had any lessons I was learning guitar using lots of DVDs and youtube videos, then I had my 1st lesson with John and learnt more in just my first lesson than I had ever learnt from all that other stuff. John is a fantastic teacher, lessons are always great fun, I get to learn at my own pace and John actively encourages me to experiment in my preferred styles of music. I would definitely recommend John's lessons to anyone with an interest in music!

Best Guitar teach on south coast - Johns been teaching me coming up on 10 years now, and without sounding big headed, I always wondered why i was better than the other lads at school. The answer was simple, Johns teaching is in a different league. I feel very glad to have had him as my guitar teacher.
