Peter Allen
According to my Builders Merchant this company was responsible for providing them with fencing panels. 3 out of the 4 required me to cut them down to an odd size and so I found that they were not properly constructed. I have seen 2 men make these type of panes by working either side of a steel frame jig. Its clear to me that one person on one side does not know the how to construct a ‘lapped’ panel or allow for wood shrinkage. I sent photos of the panels to the merchant, showing that there were slits in them you could see through! Also, on that same side, the vertical strips were only held together with 4 nails! These had to be screwed together to repair them. The final panel was replaced by the was Builders Merchant but even this panel had problems. According to them, they had sent me the best one they had in stock. Retailing at £35 a panel one would have expected excellent quality. In short, the old panels from 40 years ago were in better shape than these new ones. I will not be buying again.
