Jan painted and varnished our new kitchen and utility units a few months back and we couldn't recommend him highly enough. His attention to detail and passion for the job were second to none, and he is genuinely lovely person. Jan was really good value compared to the kitchen retailer, who would have simply spray painted all the units, drawers and shelves the same colour. However, we wanted a white washed varnish effect on the interior, in order to maintain the wood effect. Absolutely fabulous! I had a kitchen with solid oak doors which over it's 18 year life had gone a beautiful shade of orange! I searched online and it took me to the before and after photos of a kitchen Jan had done in Shaw. The before looked similar to mine and the after looked similar to where I wanted to be. After a conversation and a few e-mails with Jan he sent me a quote which I felt was really good value for money. After finally settling on a colour and date Jan got to work. His first visit was to remove all of the doors and kickboards which he took away to work on. He is unbelievably patient and spends a lot of time masking off everything in the kitchen to protect it from the paint. Once the paint starts going on he is extremely thorough, painting the underside of cupboards and the insides of glass fronted cupboards. On the final day the doors came back and reassembly starts. Jan made sure everything was put back as before, doors levelled and handles put back on. Things I like about Jan are that he keeps in touch with you, his passion for a beautiful finish, his focus and attention to detail ... I wouldn't have any hesitation in recommending him! Our bespoke kitchen cabinets needed a bit of a makeover as they are about 14 years old. Rather than replace the kitchen, repainting was a much more economical option. Jan did a great job making the whole kitchen look like new again. Adding new knobs to the doors and draws that complimented the new colours made the whole job perfect. Jan has done an absolutely fabulous job of painting our kitchen cabinates and the results are outstanding. We didn't want the upset and expense of having a new kitchen fitted. We were very comfortable with our 25yr old kitchen and although it was looking tired it suited our needs. So we decided to refresh rather than refurbish. We had some beautiful new quartz worktops fitted and searched online for a good painter. As soon a we saw Jan's website we were impressed and arranged for Jan to call round and give us a quote. Jan was so experienced and knowledgeable with a warm and caring manner that we knew immediately that he was the man for the job. Jan’s quote was very reasonable and a fraction of the cost of replacing the cabinates. We chose a beautiful Atlantis Blue colour, booked a date and couldn’t wait for work to start. On day one, Jan removed all the doors and drawers etc. On day two, Jan set about de-greasing all the surfaces and he worked tirelessly all day, all we had to do was to keep the coffee coming. On day three, Jan prepared all the surface then masked all the areas and floor taking special care of our new shiny worktops (bless him). Then he applied the primer. Our kitchen was starting to transform. On day four, Jan applied two coats of the eggshell finish. Jan worked so hard to make sure every area was painted, every nook and cranny, awkward areas (and we had a few) all base boards and plinths, even the top and bottom of the cupboards – what a guy! Jan took care of everything always making sure everything was clean and tidy before he left. Jan's pride in his work is so evident. On day five, Jan arrived with our doors and drawer fronts and carefully refitted them all into place. He then fitted all the new chrome knobs we had purchased to complete the look. Wow. It looked like a brand new kitchen. The colour and finish just popped. Absolutely gorgeous. Jan has worked so hard and meticulously to transform our old dated brown oak cabinates to a beautiful stunning kitchen to be proud of. Jan is such a lovely guy it was like having a friend round for coffee rather than a stranger in your home. We cannot recommend Jan enough. Jan’s work is impeccable and his expertise and years of experience are evident in his work. Thank you Jan for all your hard work and for our beautiful new kitchen. Jan recently completed a full respray of a large kitchen that had been painted in duck green. This was no ordinary respray job as Jan had to meticulously sand down 40 individual doors and then the carcass as the original finish was both tacky and uneven due to poor workmanship. When I met Jan at the outset and from talking to him, it was clear that he is a perfectionist and specialist at his job. I have never met a professional tradesman as keen and eager to ensure that his client is happy with the finish. Jan’s attention to detail is second to non and his ability to continue in the pursuit of the ultimate challenge is just mind blowing. Jan soon became a friend of ours and we enjoyed many chats around various subjects. He is quite simply a gem of a chap and I would have no hesitation of recommending him. I have done numerous house refurbishments and Jan is quite possibly the best tradesman I have ever met. This is not said lightly. If you do choose Jan you will get the ultimate service and a first class job! He is not averse to working into the late hours (I threw him out one night at 11.30pm and many occasions he was still there at 9.30pm) all in the pursuit of wanting to finish the job to a high standard. He even cleaned the kitchen and scrubbed the kitchen floors to ensure he left the space like a brand new kitchen. Bravo Jan! PS He is partial to toast and jam!
