Please use this agency at your own risk. So much time, money and effort was invested by us and our family/friends into a “company” that duped us from the outset. We made it clear at the start that we were joining this process to adopt 1 child under 5 – we could be malleable on this, but also may not want to be – something that was agreed, and led to us choosing this agency. However it slowly became clear that Jigsaw’s USP is in providing families for older children and sibling groups – and adopting 1 child under 5 via them was never really going to be a possibility. Khalida is a saleswoman – who leverages her own adoption experience to gain your trust, and her business partner Erik is unashamedly focused on figures and statistics, delivering brazen cutting remarks, with no consideration for the emotional journey of becoming adopters. Our meetings focused on phrases like “competition for children”, and how we will stop being sent profiles of children if we pass up on the first few received without very valid reasoning – of which nothing was really acceptable. Be conscious of which conversations happen over the phone and which are in writing. It is very purposeful which conversations there will be no record of, so they can later deny they took place. Emails get sent late on Friday’s, and lots of yours will get “lost” and forgotten about, which resulted in us being in stage 1 for 9 months – being asked for a note from the doctor in month 8, when all our profile information was clear from month 1 for example. Becoming adopters is a beautiful, emotional journey that I would recommend to anyone. But Jigsaw turned it into something ugly. Please avoid

I was an aspiring mum. I was nervous about figuring out the adoption process, but the Jigsaw guys made it so smooth. From start to finish, the process was efficient. A big thanks to the hard work and dedication of the team at Jigsaw. They were compassionate and they got us. Always available to answer questions no matter what. This Christmas was extra special as it was our first with our children. Go for it. We did

Jigsaw has been an important part of our lives through the whole adoption process. They have been really supportive all the time and we never had any reason to doubt their commitment to finding the right match for us. After filling out the interest form on the website we had an initial meeting with the manager. The meeting was really information and we got honest information without any gloss When we started the process, we had to fill out a number of forms and provide referees et cetera. This was very easy to do on Jigsaw’s online portal. When we missed something, we got friendly reminders. The assessment was done by a social worker. It is a very personal experience but we felt that we could be open and honest with our social worker without this going against us. The panel to be approved was quite scary but everyone was very supportive. Jigsaw worked really hard to find us the right children that matched us and our lifestyle. The match could not have been better. We are now mum and dad to two wonderful girls and we finally have the family we dreamed of. Jigsaw continues to support us. Overall, the support has been amazing and we would not hesitate to recommend Jigsaw to anyone considering adopting children.

Disappointed too, if I'm honest. It would have been good to have a human following up rather than then monthly electronic progress reports. Perhaps the checklists and steps they need to follow are prescribed but the governing bodies but they make little sense, eg, single adopters being asked to supply as many 'supporters' and 'referees' as a couple would.

I wanted to share that I've had a very different experience with this agency. They actually write back to you and explain things. It can take a day or two but they write back and you get that they care about you. I started my process and have had to pause due to a job change and needing to move home. These guys have given me nothing but positivity. I want to adopt and they wanna help me adopt.

I would warn any potential adopters to stay as far away from this agency as you possibly can. They prey on couples/people who are dreadfully desperate for a child and play on their insecurities to push unsuitable child matches on them. They are utterly chaotic, incompetent, obnoxious and unprofessional. They try and sell themselves as a caring, sharing 'charity' but when you get down to the facts they are just a profit making business and all they are focused on is hitting targets and making as much money as possible. Very sensitive personal information on both sides (potential parents and children's profiles) is massively mishandled, misplaced, completely lost, sent to the wrong people or not sent at all! They push through potential matches which are totally unsuitable for some parents and if you dare question anything or god forbid say that you don't feel a certain profile is right for you, then that's it, you will be frozen out, emails unanswered, calls unanswered, voicemails not returned etc. They only want people who say 'Yes' without question, anyone else is classed as a potential 'problem'. The children are in terrible situations but they are used as nothing more than collateral/currency, the quicker they are off the books the more profit they make from the local authorities, a child's wellbeing doesn't actually come into it. The Social workers were shocking, none of them ever stay there long which means you hardly ever see the same person twice, information isn't handed over, you are not informed of any changes, they are simply there one day and gone the next. Their medical advisor is beyond incompetent, its terrifying to think peoples futures lay in her hands, I wouldn't let her look after a goldfish. All of the information they take from potential parents is dressed up to make them look like they are being 'thorough' when actually it's gathered so that if they ever need to use it against you in the future, they can. If you question anything, take too long to think about a huge decision, turn down a profile as you don't feel its right, then suddenly they will bring something up from your past which was previously 'fine' but now all of a sudden is a 'problem'. Its their way of justifying getting rid of potential parents who are making their stats look bad by taking too long to place a child. When you speak to other potential parents/couples literally every single one has had to get a solicitor involved just to get a phone call returned or an email answered. To see couples who have been through hell in their journey to become parents being absolutely broken by this place and having to take legal action for the simplest thing is soul destroying. What you thought would be the happiest time of your life suddenly becomes your worst nightmare. No one goes into this process thinking its going to be easy and problem free but to have to go through legal action just to get to speak to someone is very upsetting, unnecessary and expensive, it just adds so much more stress to an already stressful process. If you want to look into adoption go to your local authority or a well know charity like Banardo's they may take longer but its for a good reason, they make sure children are matched with the right parents they aren't interested in profit.
