All at once Rip found his eyes growing heavy. He could not remain awake anymore, but he sank limply to the ground and fell into a deep sleep. When he awoke, Rip found himself under the old oak tree. It was a bright sunny morning. "I must have slept here all night," said Rip, as he tried to get up. Rip thought of the little strange men and their drink which he too h "Ah, it must have been the drink. I should not have touched it. What will good Dame say when I go home?" Rip looked for his gun, but he could not find it. He whistled for his dog, b Wolf did not appear. He rose to his feet slowly, shook his head vigorouslya walked slowly down the side of the mountain. He searched for his village f and near. At last, when Rip came to a place that looked like his village, a tro of strange children was running at his heels. It was his own vilage, but it had changed. The children hooted after him, an the dogs did not know him. There were queer people at the doors and strange faces at the windows. R did not know what to do. He was feeling scared and confused. Slowly and trembling with fear, he walked towards his own home. Alas! Wha did he find? The house had decayed. The roof had fallen in and the window were broken. The doors were off their hinges.
