Overall great, but in recent months, the chicken in dishes has become awful. Chewy and horrible.

Wonderful food at a relatively inexpensive price we took a family of six to Jalsa just a few days ago and it only costs us about 130 inclucing 2 bottles of wine. The waiters are friendly and the service is pretty nice served up in a really old English-Style, thatched-roofed restaurant. It's really quite a good bargain for an Indian-style restaurant. Kid-friendliness: There is always kourma, but you can ask for grilled chicken or a host of other things

Our favourite Indian restaurant. We always visit when we're in the local area. Vegetarian options: Vegetarian dishes made to order to suit personal preference. Kid-friendliness: Absolutely brilliant with children. Very family orientated. Parking: Limited parking available but plenty of safe street parking opposite the restaurant.

Had a lovely meal at Jalsa Ghar in Great Dunmow. It was very busy when we arrived and had to wait at the bar before being seated. The chicken shashlik was very nice. Staff are very friendly and the restaurant has won many awards over the years. Booking is recommended. They have a car park but you may not get a space during busy periods. Expect to pay £15-£20 per head for food.
