Came for a birthday dinner last night on a Saturday. service was a bit slow and the waitress didn’t seem to have any training. We ordered drinks (2x gin and tonics, 1x gin and lemonade) but no tonic received. This was after repeating the order for the 3rd time. Not a big deal and drank it anyway. I ordered the Chicken Tikka tandoori which I always have. Waitress asked if I wanted the mixed grill to which I said no and pointed to the chicken tikka tandoori on the menu. She wrote it down. Sadly, I received a mixed grill which she called ‘chicken tikka tandoori’. I don’t eat red meat so, once I realised there were bits of beef as well as chicken, I couldn’t carry on eating the dish (which I thought WAS tandoori). Manager rolled his eyes when I said something and took it off the bill. No apology or anything… To top it all off, the gin alone came to £42! That’s £3.50 per single measure of Gordon’s gin - keeping in mind we didn’t receive tonic either time. They also added 3 diet cokes onto our bill which we asked to be removed as we hadn’t had them. My friends and I have been coming to Jaipur for years but won’t be returning. Food was average (and incorrect for one of us), service was slow and lots of mistakes made. I am NEVER one to complain as I’m a waitress myself but there are much nicer curry houses to dine in in Newbury.

Ordered our first takeaway from here and was pleasantly surprised. We had chicken shashlik, saag Baji, chapati and a Bengali fish dish which I asked as spicy and it didn't disappoint. The saag was the best albeit a bit watery. Chicken shashlik really good and chapattis nice and thin. Obligatory chapattis with mint sauce nice and fresh. I don't know what the fish dish was called because everyone seems to have stopped doing paper menus now which I find really really annoying. I just want to peruse phone and order. The lady on the phone phoned me back to make sure of what I wanted which was really nice of her so good service. I will order from there again even though I won't get paper menu and don't know how much it costs!
