Jade City is an oddity within Manchester's chinatown. Firstly, you have to walk up the dirtiest stairwell in Manchester. Home to more spiders than an arachnid convention. Upon arrival to a fish tank with more algae than the great barrier reef you're, well, not greeted, just left to stand waiting around until someone comes get you without saying a word just a hand gesture to follow... it's less of a restaurant more like a canteen feel. The service is terrible. Wrong drinks came, but marginally close to what we ordered. Food is delicious, but avoid the pricer items, such as the duck, more skin and fat than meat. Absolutely no atmosphere and some of the female wait staff are just down right aggressive in both the way they talk and stare at you while you eat. I'd likely not return, but, most of the food minus the duck was delicious and value for money. Go to China City around the corner if you want a 'Chinese City' resteraunt.

The stairs leading to the restaurant are a bit dingy, but don't let that discourage you from going. The menu is good, the food arrived very quickly and was delicious. We had salt and pepper chicken, duck in plum sauce and fried rice. Everything was well cooked, seasoned perfectly and delicious, the only downside is the duck had a lot of fat compared to meat. The service was a let down, one of the staff got our drinks order wrong and the other was not friendly.

Had to return a plate of noodles, had hair in it so that item was cancelled. Besides, the vegetables in should have been bakchoi or gaikan, they put in broccoli!! Also tried their dimsum, largely bland and tasteless. The yam croquettes had a pre-chewed texture which was not pleasant. The xialongbao ver soggy, fille with water and had very little meat.

HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE AVOID!!!!!!!!!! Rudest service EVER! Also accidentally heard staff member saying that sanitary is not that important in Cantonese. Avoid if you ever care about your food safety.

Popular restaurant with absolutely authentic dim sums and Chinese cuisine. The staff are busy but still friendly. The egg tarts are perfect but so popular that you have to order very early. You can pay by either cash or card.
