  We chose Jonathan when we saw him at our friends wedding six years ago! Fast forward to March of this year and it was our turn…. We didn’t even need a conversation about who we were going to book and we couldn’t have asked for anyone better. From our initial conversation, to the engagement shoot, to our wedding day, Jonathan made us feel so relaxed and comfortable. The brief was ‘portraits and posed photos are nice, but we LOVE the relaxed, informal shots, we wants to see everyone having fun!’ And that’s exactly what he shot…. Not only did he shoot photos, he got involved, chatted to our guests, had a laugh with them and got in any position he needed to, to get the winning photo!!!! He fitted into our wedding without question. You can clearly see he loves his job!!! We’ve now got our pictures back, and we couldn’t be happier. The slideshow gave us all the emotion all over again! There’s not one photo we don’t love! And now we’ve got the hard decision of which ones we put in the album 😂😂😂 Thank you Jonathan, we adore you! Annie & Cam xx

  We hired Jonathan for our wedding with a second photographer, they were amazing! We felt so at ease and comfortable with them. They helped to add to the amazing experience that we had on our wedding day. They were so professional, friendly, funny and amazing to be around, they were fantastic with the children too and it was great to share our day with them. We had high hopes for our photos that would be provided but when we recieved them, they were beyond our expectation! We couldnt of asked for more. We are so thankful for the photos and the presence that was added to our day. If we were to do it all over again, would hire jonathan in a heartbeat Anyone looking for a wedding photographer i would 100% recommend j s Coates and you wont be disappointed. Thank you

  We’d recommend Jonathan as a wedding photographer based on our experience with him. From our first call with him, Jonathan went out of his way to make us feel comfortable. He outlined his approach and recommendations for making the day run smoothly. He never made us feel like we were asking too much of him. As one of our guests put it, Jonathan was the hardest working wedding photographer they'd ever seen. He turned up bright and early to capture photos of the bride and her family before setting up for some fantastic shots at the ceremony. At the reception he prioritised us, making sure that we were comfortable and that we had plenty of time to socialise while also making time for us to get portrait photos. Outside of that he was practically invisible as he captured a range of candid photos throughout the day of both us and our guests. In the evening we had a Ceilidh and Jonathan was right in the middle of things. This let him really get the essence of our evening entertainment into his photos. He stayed far later than we expected, capturing some truly epic shots of us and our guests partying the night away as our guests filled the dance floor. We received our slideshow and photos about a month after our wedding day. The slideshow was incredible, it perfectly captured the day and really brought us back to our wedding. A couple of months later we received our physical wedding album which is a beautiful memento of our wedding. Hiring Jonathan is a no brainer. He’s an incredible photographer, he'll put you at ease on your big day, he works hard and is genuinely such a lovely guy with an infectious enthusiasm.

  Jonathan was amazing throughout the whole process. From the relaxed initial meeting, we knew Jonathan was the right person to capture our special day in October 2022. His vibrant, colourful images reflect his confident and friendly attitude. He made us feel completely comfortable throughout, and everyone commented on how great him and Chris were on the wedding day. We received the photos back in super quick time, and cannot stop watching the slideshow he put together to music.   It is hard to put into words how much we would recommend Jonathan to capture your special day. His images purely speak for themselves. His talent is undeniable and he has an ability to capture the emotion, love and sentiment of the day in a way that tells your own personal story. The images are far beyond our expectations, they completely take us back to the day, reliving each and every moment. Absolutely outstanding! But what Jonathan brings is so much more than the incredible pictures. It felt like we had another member of the bridal party with us. He instantly felt like family to the point our guests thought he genuinely was!! He balanced the organisation of our requested images effortlessly (and with charisma!) but also allowed the magical moments to flow without interrupting, meaning he captured everything we wanted and so much more. Jonathan joined in the fun from the very start until the very end. His personality and fun spirit is so much greater than you could hope for. He brilliantly captured every ounce of joy that was had on our day. We honestly couldn’t recommend him enough. Worth every penny and more.

  Can't recommend this guy enough! The photos are of course absolutely stunning, really brings you back to the day. It felt effortless as the customer. He didn't have you spending all day posing which was massively appreciated as the day is hectic enough! And of course, what a lovely guy!   Jonathan took the most outstanding photos at our wedding. Having seen his work and reviews from others online, we had high hopes - and Jonathan exceeded our expectations. We are over the moon with his work; 1,400 striking and brilliantly-edited photos, turned around within a month after the big day. On top of this, he's a really decent, warm guy and it was a pleasure to spend our special day with him. 10/10 would recommend without reservation. Getting married? Get Jonathan booked in!

  Jon is brilliant. We asked him to be our wedding photographer and we are so pleased that we did. He did a fabulous job. We are thrilled with the photos, especially the candids and couple photos. He’s also super friendly and it was a pleasure to have him join us on the day. Plus, he’s very responsive and got us our photos (with full edits and slideshow) in less than six weeks.   We would happily recommend Jonathan to everyone and anyone. Straight from our first meeting he made us feel comfortable. The final meeting before the wedding reassured us and calmed our nerves. Throughout the wedding day he also put us at ease and made the photo shoots fun and relaxed. All day I was getting compliments on how nice, and good he was. Then when we got the photos, wow! We, our family and friends are all blown away. We love the candid shots, which really capture the story of the day and the varied shots of us throughout the day in different settings and lighting are just unbelievably gorgeous. We are a very happy bride and groom.
