    If you are looking for a piano for your home, then I recommend J Reid Pianos wholeheartedly. Everything about the experience was great. I recommend making an appointment to visit the showroom. "Showroom" doesn't describe it, more like a piano wonderland. I was allowed to stay as long as I liked and to experience any of the dozens of models - new and secondhand - in stock, and was given advice that was obviously honest. There was absolutely no 'hard selling'. Susan and her brother obviously care about music. I am an amateur home-player by the way, not a professional. Once we worked out that the only model that would fit up the staircase in our small semi-detached house was the Yamaha, everything followed smoothly. I'd shared videos of our hallway and staircase, and Chris, one of the delivery team, took time to pop round and check access before confirming. At this stage I was asked only for a very small deposit to secure the piano. Delivery occurred about ten days' later - during the very cold snap in the run-up to Christmas 2022. I expected the delivery to be delayed due to the icy conditions, but it went ahead (as you can see in the photographs.) Chris and two colleagues - the Very Strong and Capable Men - delivered and installed the piano into the upstairs room. With no fuss, and (not that I'd have cared!) no mess or damage to the banisters. They are a truly remarkable team. Once the piano was in place, they also installed it (it's a 'silent' piano, so as well as being a lovely acoustic, it can also be played with headphones as a digital.) They didn't leave until I'd understood its key features, knew where the manual was, and checked that all was working. Only at this point was I invoiced for the piano's amount. I can't believe how much I was given for the very reasonable price - I doubt it could be beaten. I don't mean this as an insult, but there is something 'retro' about the Reid's experience: professionals who care about their customers and who go the extra mile to make sure that the customer is satisfied. I hope I wasn't a difficult customer! But I was not buying a hugely expensive instrument, and I had awkward requirements (it had to be delivered upstairs in our small semi-detached.) Reid's coped with this and didn't make me feel anything but a valued customer. I visited lots of showrooms before buying my new piano. Some were friendly, some were clearly obsessed about sales commission (think 'huge international brand with a presence in the West End'). None made me feel as at home as Reid's, and I couldn't be happier with my choice and the outcome. I'd recommend them to any pianist in a heartbeat. Graeme Archer.
