I was looking for a martial art that was more traditionally Japanese rather than mainstream like Karate or Kendo so this dojo was a fantastic find as both Aikido and Kenjutsu are not usually offered (in my local area anyway) It has a very welcoming attitude, you can join at any time and your not made to feel like the 'newbie' and there are a range of ages so anyone can fit in. The trainers Bartek and Irena are very skilled, knowledgeable and most importantly patient lol :)

It's been a delight to meet new people interested in training Aikido, the response has been so heartening. A combination of people completely new to this Martial Art, and experienced practitioners. People living in the neighbourhood and others travelling from further afield. And we can all train together for the class. This meeting of people makes me think of the gathering of energy and power into the centre of weight in the body, the lower belly, the Hara...in the body arms and legs, and head can each work independently, yet when they know their relationship to the centre there is harmony in the movement and effectiveness in action. I look forward to continuing being part of this dojo (Training place), get to know the other participants and improve my skills. Bartek is an excellent teacher who cares about the participants while keeping a strong focus on the principles and techniques he teaches. He is dedicated to and respectful of the tradition he is transmitting while bringing a sense of humor to the learning process.
