When we moved into our Edwardian house 6 years ago, we spent the first couple of months sharing it with decorators and carpenters as we set about creating the sort of family home that we were after. After they had gone and we had breathed sighs of relief, we looked around at what had been achieved and smiled quietly to ourselves – those areas that had been addressed were much improved and looked “fine.” Fast forward 6 years and we knew that the major projects that we had been procrastinating over could not be delayed any longer. Taking the view that if we were going to have work done we may as well get everything done and enjoy living in it thereafter, we compiled a not insignificant shipping list – to wit…. A small extension to the kitchen to create a much needed utility area A complete new kitchen Transformation of a small separate toilet and bathroom on the first floor into a serviceable, modern wetroom. A new guest suite on the top floor in place of the junk room and very tired bathroom that currently occupied the space. Clearly this was not going to be a cheap exercise and, bearing in mind past experience, we were keen to move beyond “fine” – ideally into the realms of “wow.” Having been recommended to Margaret via a business associate, we made contact via zoom and outlined the brief. In short order Margaret came back to us with a quotation for undertaking the work and a questionnaire to get to the bottom of our requirements. Having furnished her with photos she soon produced some outline proposals and after a certain amount of to-ing and fro-ing we wound up with cgi’s and technical specs for the entire project. Additionally, she gave us a fully priced up shopping list as to what was required in terms of kitchen and bathroom fittings and where to source them. The contrast between her vision and what we would have come up with ourselves could not have been greater and her imagination coupled with her attention to detail ensured that the end result was not only stunning to look at but, importantly, practical to live and work with. Her bill probably added somewhere between 2-3% to the overall budget which, frankly, is an absolute steal. Her drawings provided an easy blueprint for the builders and assorted tradesmen to work from and before they left, we heard them saying to each other how great everything looked. Our Christmas guests could not believe the transformation and I should like to think that we are well into the realms of wow! Thank you so much Margaret for a fabulous job complicated by the fact that Covid restrictions prevented you from even seeing the house beforehand.
